Default I need a group hug - sticking to Atkins, venting

One of my best friends passed away this morning. The whole thing was a mess and someone else told me he had died yesterday so it was a very bad day for me – and I managed to walk 4.81 miles and stay on track despite the numerous food vendors and restaurants I saw on the way.

A couple of hours ago I got an upsetting email from a mutual friend who used to be one of my best friends and is now on my fridge door (check on the forums re what keeps you motivated) ~ long story short she’s bringing up stuff that I had tried to let go of months ago and I’m trying to find the way to politely tell her to GO HERSELF. I'm livid.

Both things are painful. I got thru yesterday and half of the day today but this email has sent me thru the roof. It’s taking me a lot not to go to the supermarket and get chocolate, chips, cookies… lo mein and rice from the Chinese place... pizza... greek salad with pita bread...

I can’t go out walking (which would help me with my no-cravings and to clear my head) because it’s freezing right now. I’ve tried reading and watching a movie but I can’t concentrate.

Sorry about your friend.

Do you really have to talk with your ex-best friend? You could not answer her calls, emails, etc. No one can force you to do that.

Well... that email will still be there after your binge... so it won't solve anything at all... it will however make you more depressed which will take your mind off of it, but taking it and balling it up in a tight little ball and seeing if you can make it into the garbage from across the room will take your mind off of it as well

If you are discovering that you are an emotional eater, this is a perfect opportunity to retrain yourself to deal with your emotions, whatever they may be, in a different way.

Stay strong, don't give in. You will be so much more proud of yourself afterward because you hung in there.

Those cookies and pita bread won't help, only make yourself feel worse!

Thanks everyone. The craving passed as soon as I started watching a movie about a psycho who feeds women to death. It's called "Feed" and it's truly disgusting. I wrote her a long letter, slept on it, and sent it a few minutes ago asking her to let go and never contact me again. I'm getting ready to start my day and I'm happy I didn't give in - tonight I'm wearing a dress (not sure yet which one) and I'm going to have a lot of fun in the city. Like you say in America: living well is the best revenge!
