| i've spoken with a couple of endocrinologists (diabetologists to boot!) and several cardiologists. They're quite open to Atkins and even advocate a low carb diet rather than a high carb one. There are a bunch of problems with mainstream medicine though and alot of docs (here in the US) won't "come out of the closet" and proclaim they are Atkineers or suggest low carb diets for their patients...the malpractice stakes are too high here in the States for most docs to openly support the low carb WOE.

| Australian doctors (or at least my local ones) seem to think Dr Atkins was a witchdoctor and it's all eat low fat and lots of fibre! (I read carbs for fibre), and the carbs are just poison for me. Even the fact that I've lost 16kg in 8 weeks, have virtually thrown way my 2 walking sticks, joined a gym etc doesn't convince them Oh, no - they predict doom and gloom. So I'll keep coming and talking to you guys and gals and the doctor can get knotted! I know my BP is down, I'm not so ted in the face or so out of breath. One third of the way there!

| My doctor was very open to Atkins. She said she did think it would work if done correctly and would not be harmful. Her only concern was that it was too boring and I would not stick to it. I assured her all you have to do is be a little creative and you can come up with tons of new recipies! Your news is so great and makes me feel even better!!!! |
