Default Cheating isn't worth it

Last night my family ate late becaues my mom didn't get off until late and we couldn't decide what to have for supper since they aren't on the atkins diet and we had to decide for something for me and something for them. So i said "well, how about just this once i go off so we aren't sitting here forever trying to decide what to have." We had chili dogs and beans (i kind of wanted to go off just this once anyway cause they were homemade beans and my mom makes the best beans .) And afterwards i felt so guilty that i went off it and thinking that it would maybe mess up my progress (which is fluctuating between 18 and 20 pounds so far and i started the 2nd ). Afterwards of feeling guilty and somewhat unsatisfied (even though i was really full) i thought "you know what, its not worth it, i've tried diets before and if i would have just stuck to them i would have lost lots of weight by now" but its times and meals like this when i say "oh just this once wont hurt" but in reality if you did it that ONCE it wont hurt, but that ONCE can get you re-addicted and wanting more or it may have you "Rationalizing" saying that same phrase of "it wont hurt" plenty of times more in the future.

If you ever cheat....Ration do not "rationalize" by saying "oh 2 more chips wont hurt, i've only have a handful" it will just hurt you because by the time you know it your "handful" turns into a half a bag, then that turns into a full bag.

sorry about the long post ....i think i rambled and went on a couple of tangents there but oh well

You really have to be strong and exercise control when you cheat. It is soooo easy like you said, to turn 2 chips into the whole bag.

been there, done that. And when I was done, I'd be like 'where'd the chips go?' :grimble or when I'm eating something, I will lose it, literally, I'll go nuts looking for my food, when I actually have ate it.

But that was in the past, and like you said, it's not worth it!

you're right it's not worth it! you feel so crappy afterwards and if you think about it, would you rather have a good body or enjoy some food for like 10 minutes or however long you're eating it. Not too hard there! Take care :nod

You are so right! My one cheat led me to all an out binge that caused me to gain back the 40 pounds I'd lost plus 8 more. Nothing is worth that! :sadblinky

Good for you Ben. I agree, it is definitely not worth it. I share your feelings of STICKING IT OUT. It was the same way with my smoking. I smoked for a long time, then I quit. I quit for 5 years!!! Then, one day I talked myself into just smoking a few cigarettes. Then it was a pack, then it was back to smoking a pack a day. Well, I kept saying I wanted to quit again, but everyday, I lit up. Finally, 9 months ago and 3 days, I woke up, feeling like crap and threw three packs of cigarettes in the garbage. I quit that day. Its been over 9months now and I am proud of myself. I did have cravings for about a month, but then they went away. I feel great today and have no desire to start again.

I feel just as passionate about this WOE. I am on a journey to improve my health, emotionally and physically I want to get the weight off, add postitive vibes to my life and be happier spiritually. And now I've found support in these postings. I am happy and know that I can and will make it. I am not giving up and I will encourage everyone to do the same.
