| First of all, Congrats on the 14 lbs!! That's an awesome start! Second, do you have the book to follow? Anything that you have that is not on the acceptable list for induction IS cheating. Did you take your measurments before you started? It could be that your inches will now catch up with your pounds. Are you getting in all your water daily?

| Way to go! 14 pounds is fantastic. Heather beat me to it, I was going to ask about your water intake. Getting all my water and then some is critical for me.

| Maria everyone stalls at some point. you have to stick it out. You will see a change. I had a girlfriend who stalled for 2 months once. She had a total of 25 lbs to lose, but she stuck it out and though it took her 6 months she made it and has maintained it. Don't give up!

| Hi MariaMac! What sweetner is in sugar-free jello and do you eat that alot? I know for certain that aspartame stalls my weight loss so a diet soda or some other aspartame sweetened item is a very rare occasional treat for me. There is a great thread around here called "weight loss is not linear" look for it as a sticky in the 14 day induction forum. Hang in there Maria, this WOE is in an entirely different league than WW or LAWL. You can do it and you should be really excited about the success you are about to have!

| If the scale didn't move, you must be doing something right. If you had gained 5 pounds back, I would say you did something wrong. The scale not moving in Induction for one week is fine. If you stop induction right now and go out and eat whatever you want for a week, you'll probably gain all the weight you lost back or at least a good portion of it. The fact that you haven't gain a significant amount of the weight back is a testatment to your success so far. Don't worry, you'll be fine if you stick to the basics.

| Please don't take this wrong, but those weren't side steps, they were illegal cheats. There is a lot of sugar in ketchup. I just don't want you to think it's ok since it was a little amount. Excuses won't get weight off, trust me, I known this for years. lol. Plus you're body will start to crave those things even more once it knows it can get them. It's like a drug user. Body will crave it until you give it. Then it will demand more and more until you feed it. Once you detox your body will think hmmm all my demanding didn't work so I won't try so hard since I didn't get it. But you'll think about the food/sweet because it was like a habit. But once you give in your body will be like Oh yeah!! I can demand more of this and she'll give in again!

| Thanks all of you for your comments. I've read each and every one and took into consideration everything you have said. This board is amazing. I swear. I'm learning everyday. So, I've pinpointed the problem. I don't drink a lot of anything, not diet soda or water or anything. So, drinking eight glasses of water a day is hard for me. I was doing about four, maybe. But drinking nothing else - no soda, tea, coffee, etc. Just the water. I found that I do have success when I drink the eight glasses of water. The ketchup didn't hurt me, but not drinking water did. And the fact that I hate cold weather and here in New Jersey, it won't go away, so I haven't walked at all. Anyway, today, Tuesday, April 17, I stepped on the scale and dropped another three. So, since March 26th, I have lost 17. Thank you again, all of you. |

| Heather, it sounds like you and I are in the same boat. I started at 225, you at 224. I want to be 145 and so do you. I'm not brave enough to post pictures, and I probably don't look all that different, but I sure feel different. Psst.....I even attacked my husband this morning after the kids left for school AS he was on his way out the door for work. LOL. Something is working. |
