Hello Tina,

19 pounds that is great!! Congratulations. Try to take the vitamins as the book suggests. I think is good your health if you are not eating the veggies.

I have lost 17 pounds but I am loosing it slowly. I hope I can loose more but your story gives me motivation , so I think I will do 50 minutes today in the gym. I usually do cardio 30 minutes.

I love reading this forum.

you gotta eat veggies. find a new way to make them that makes you tolerate the taste. I find it hard to believe that anyone can hate steamed broccoli with melted cheddar cheese.

Hi Tina....

What about using a fiber supplement such as benefiber....you can dissolve it in your favorite drink or add it to your food.

Yeppers you have to disguise those veggies and look for recipes that sound interesting to you. I think the cauliflour with parmesan cheese sounds wonderful and sounds like great way to disguise the taste of cauliflour which I don't particularily like. Will give that one a go. Maybe you could make a veggie soup that would work for you?

Hi Ladytina,

First of all congrats for the loss. I am from down under and I am still on my intro.

I really do understand you. I HATE vegies. Really hate 'em.
If you read my post in "spotlight yourself..( I am new and would like to join..) you can see how much I have struggle with this.

But I really tried it for myself not for anybody else. Just go to an Asian supermarket and find out something different. There is something I like over there, It looks like a water plant with long tube stems and leaves. If you need the name, I will get the name for you tomorrow.
I will give you the recipe here.
cut the bunch into 5 pieces heat olive oil n put it there. add bit of dried chillies spray sesame oil n salt. You got to cook only 4 minutes in high flame.

Try it , I know this vegie problem.

Hello Tina, congrats on your awesome success. I just wanted to suggest that you try some flax seed oil to help with the bowel movements. You can get it at GNC in liquid or pills. I prefer to just take a spoonful of it. Flax oil has many other benefits also.
Keep up the good work.

Congrats on your weight loss!!! I've heard about the flax seed oil too Sassy. I hate veggies to death!!! I am thinking about making mini veggie smoothies similar to V-8 juice, and hold my breath and drink it. The fiber supplement suggestion sounds really good too. I know Dr. A said to take one and a multi-vitamin (which I do). If pills bother you even injesting liquid vitamins, then how does it differ from the laxative you took?

Eating only protein is not Atkins. And sustaining weight loss on high protein only won't help you with any long term goal.

Eating habits are developed over a lifetime and many of us developed poor eating habits, thus the problems with being overweight. Dr. Atkins (DANDR, 2002) prescribes a way of eating for life.

Over time, pure protein may cause you more problems than just constipation.

Hi,
Just discovered recently that rhubarb is a vegetable and low in carbs so could you make up some of this with some splenda to sweeten it is lovely with cream stirred through and high in fibre.
Good luck.

I agree with IrishIrish -- you aren't actually following the Atkins plan - you are following what the general public think of as Atkins (no veggies). You have lost weight yes, but not a healthy way. How many carbs are you eating daily? You are suppose to be getting 20 net carbs daily MOST of them coming from vegetables.

Instead of saying "I don't like vegetables" try something new - your tastebuds are different today than when you first started because you have stopped filling your body with crap.

As far as only having a bowel movement because of taking a laxative that is because you aren't eating any fibre so you aren't able to rid your body of waste.

Start eating vegetables - it's a must
