| I live away from home (in Switzerland) so my family here is really my friends and my boyfriend. And my boyfriend has been amazingly supportive. We go grocery shopping every weekend to make sure I have Atkins friendly food for the week and we cook together. He eats whatever foods we make..even if they aren't that great Overall my friends are supportive. They accept what I'm doing and are cool with me occasionally bringing my own food to stuff. One friend however seems a bit bothered by it. She's always asking me if I plan on giving up things like bread and pasta forever. Also, she gets mad that I drink as much as before. But I just smile and nod at her and go about doing exactly what I want. I know this works for me and don't feel the need to explain myself. I'm glad to see there are other people on here who are being supported by their family and friends as well. Big hugs to all, Rae

| Most of my family and certainly my friends are extremely supportive. I try not to discuss Atkins with other people, though, because it always brings out comments. "You should have had your cholesterol checked" or "you will gain back all the weight you lost" or "I had a friend who knew someone who.............. fill in the blank" I would rather not discuss it. Three years ago, when I reached goal on Atkins the first time, people had a lot DIFFERENT comments to make. They wanted to know how I did it, what I ate, what exercise I did, etc. That was fun!

| I think that you have a lot to look forward to with this diet. I have lost 30 pounds in the past 3 months and people comment at work almost daily. It took people until about 2 weeks ago to really notice but they have all been really impressed. People who have not seen me in awhile definitely did a double take. My family is thrilled and my boyfriend can definitely tell a difference. It has given me a lot of confidence that I didn't realize I was missing! People really do start to treat you differently when you lose weight. It kind of makes me angry, even though I like the change. We're still the same people! But anyway, just keep it up and it will be worth it in the end. My mom always says that no food tastes as good as thin feels! Good luck to you |

| People I come across, both family and friends, always take a second look, and then gush over how THEY can do it too and get such great results. Yes, it's a fantastic feeling to have people actually paying you attention, as if you're finally worth something, but it's disheartening at the same time when they are the same people who told you while they ate a pizza that Atkins is SO unhealthy. Yet as soon as they SEE the results on you, they're all up for it because they think it's so healthy (which it is, but in their opinion...) The only people that know I'm following this WOL right now is my mum, because she's here with me and see's me eating and knows my eating habits (even if she doesn't agree) and the girl I go to lunch with at work, for the same reason. My hubby has been told, but I don't think he takes me seriously. He hasn't seen me for 4 or 5 weeks, so when he sees me in 6 weeks time he will be shocked! 10 weeks makes a HUGE difference!

| My BF just keeps asking when I'll be done so we can go to any restaurant we want again. He never comments on my weight and doesn't seem to care, but he understands that I was getting out of my own personal comfort zone and doesn't give me a hard time about indulging my vanity. He DOES like sharing my delicious homecooked meals and has become a big fan of pureed cauliflower, LOL. My friends are wonderful people, but they're the first to do the "you're too skinny!" thing when I'm in a lower end of my range. 5'7" and 135 is NOT too skinny - it's healthy and slender and strong. I do think that a little bit of female competition comes into play there, but I don't sweat it. |

| Hello Don't listen to the friends that tell you this. I had this problem several years ago and I hated hearing this from "friends". I found out that it's not what anyone says to you but how you feel at the weight your're at. Whatever makes you happy as long as you don't go down to like 80 pounds- lol. |
