Thanks so much for your kind words! Well, I don't know how much help I can be in regards to your question about Induction and moving up on the rungs....I'm a bit of a tricky case and have had to adjust this way of eating in a way due to major food allergies (I didn't change how this way of eating is to be carried out...but just had to adjust it a bit). Looking at page 171, I would have to say I am probably on #1. of the Carbohydrate ladder. I stayed on Induction up until just a couple weeks ago or so, it didn't bore me at all and I've rather enjoyed it. As Dr. Atkins states in his book (pg. 156) it is safe to stay on Induction for 6 months or longer if desired or need be (in my case I have had a lot of weight to lose so I decided to stay on it longer). So as of recent, I began to add more veggies into my diet and have had no problems increasing them. Now, for me...I will be skipping a few "rungs" on the ladder due to major food allergies. I will not be able to do #2 (Fresh cheeses) or #3 (Seeds and nuts)....and that too was part of the reason I opted to stay where I have been for so long. I didn't feel my system was ready to shoot directly up to #4 (berries) so early into it. I have thought about adding berries (which I will have to be careful with because some of them react with my allergies) in the next month but I'll have to see how things are going with the extra veggies I have introduced within the last few weeks. After berries, I can not do #5 (Wine and other spirits low in carbs - due to allergic reactions), #6 (Legumes - allergic reactions) #7 (Fruits other than berries - this will be very limited for me due to the food allergies) #8 (Starchy veggies...very limited as well due to food allergies) and # 9 (Whole grains - I will not be able to do this one at all due to food allergies). So, I don't think my example can be a good one for people who don't experience food allergies like I do...however, it is an example in a sense that if one follows the way it's suppose to be administered (even if there are rungs one can't eat) this way of eating still works very well and is satisfying!!! I would say that moving up into the other parts of the ladder is a good thing as people have suggested if one gets bored or their weight loss doesn't seem to be moving....I would totally agree with these reasons for moving up the ladder...there are certainly a lot of great examples of people's successes on this board doing this. However, I think it also comes down to how the individual is doing and if they don't mind being on Induction for a longer period of time...certainly there is nothing wrong with is according to Dr. Atkins. Sorry for being so long winded but I wanted to be able to answer your question as best I could. Thank you for stopping by to share my newest update...it's very good to meet you! Thank you for your encouragement and support....like I said lastnight...I can't begin to tell you how your pm lastnight couldn't have come at a better time....amazing timing....good grief I was feeling so down lastnight about things and rather overwhelmed (personal health issues and the thought of how much further I have to go). You were certainly a lighthouse in the distance for me lastnight and I thank you greatly!!!! I wouldn't have screwed up by eating something I shouldn't have (THANKFULLY) but I was stuggling at the thought of trying to fit in lastnight's workout.... and the workouts to come. It's not this way of eating that is the difficulty for me (I enjoy it very much and feel very satisfied)....rather, it's trying to stay motivated to workout 6 days a week (in the morning before I go to work) and then in the evening (when I come home from work). I have some other health issues that drain me and keeping the motivation up at times can be very hard because of the fatigue from time to time...HOWEVER (don't want this to sound like a sob story) I'm DOING the workouts and have not let them slide. My body certainly looks a LOT different I am sure at 249 lbs. due to the exercise than if I had not exercised and I want to continue in that progess and experience the positive results. You keep doing all that you're doing as well.....it's all happening!!!! You're doing great! Let me know how the dinner party goes. Thanks again for everything!
