| Hi John. Sounds like you're ready to make some changes. Kudos to you. You'll be amazed at what this way of eating will do for you. No more feeling like you can't control the things you put in your mouth. Low fat diets have always left me feeling deprived, but I never feel deprived on this way of eating. You can eat like a king on this diet, and still lose weight. One of our favorite meals is steamed crab legs when they go on sale at the local grocery store. We can pick them up for $5.99 a pound. I love ribeye steaks, hubby loves NY strip. We eat very very well. My husband joined me on this WOE last summer. I never thought the man would EVER gain control over his eating. I'd seen him diet on and off before, but it never lasted. This time he has stuck with it. He has so much determination. He's gone from a 52 inch waist to 40 inches, and he's still losing. When you're determined, you really can do anything you want. Best of luck to you! |

| Keep it up John. I remind myself daily why a stupid piece of pizza, icecream or cake is so not worth the pain. I'd rather see myself happy with the way I look! |

| John, many of the things you wrote about I can identify with. The decision to lose the excess weight has to come from within you and only you can do it. I still have a long way to go, but so far I have lost almost 40 lbs!!!. The best feeling in the world is to be able to fit into clothes that have long been too tight. I am starting to look forward to going outside instead of hiding inside. Whatever diet you decide to do, I wish you luck and even if you trip and mess up, just get right back up and keep on. Do some type of exercise, it will help melt the pounds away. Good luck to you. |

| Hi JohnSantos. Welcome to the Atkins diet! I'm pretty new at this myself; I'm in my 3rd week. I decided to set my goals in 2 week increments so that they don't seem too huge at first. Also, I made a journal in the journal chats forum of this board and I've been looking forward each day to typing my plans and food in there... it's helped me feel less overwhelmed with keeping all the induction rules straight and keeping my focus. I wish you the best of luck!
