Default So it really works

Well, looking through my diary and doing some calculations, The results I've gotten from 6/19/2009 until this morning, 8/4/2009, are pretty good.

I've dropped 6.8% body fat. My weight on 6/19/2009 was 228 lb and today is 210 lb. The total weight loss is 18 lb. After doing measurements, calculations, etc. the actual fat loss was 19 lb and within those 47 days, I gained 1.0 lb of muscle mass. Thus the true fat loss has been 2.8 lb fat per week with an average muscle mass increase of 0.15 lb per week.

My average daily caloric intake is 2435 cal per day.

I wonder what my body composition will be like around Thanksgiving, so I can party with my sibling, the turkey.....

Nice work, Norman...

This goes to show how hard it is to gain muscle. You have an incredible weight training regimen, and in about 6 weeks, you've gained a pound of lean muscle mass. I always cringe when people say that they've gained 3 lbs in a week or two and people say "well, is it possible you're gaining muscle?" It's really hard to gain lean muscle mass.

Slapshot, I'm happy that I didn't lose any muscle! I'm sure if I was on a the high complex carb / low fat diet 40% of the weight loss or so would have been lean tissue.

I'm not on any androgens, steroids, growth hormones or testosterone.
I did take an estrogen blocker back in early May for about 4 weeks or so.
It did help somewhat, but gave me very painful joints. As it is, I have rotor cuff injuries so I have quite a time working out around them.

Thanks, but it is a ***** to gain muscle mass while losing fat. It's not as easy as people think. The great thing about low carb is the protein sparing effect.
I'm very happy with my gains. I've lost an incredible amount of adipose tissue and have had a modest gain in muscle mass. But if you really think about it, losing 19 lb fat and adding one pound muscle can really dramatically transform one's physique.

Yeah, great work, but I sure give thanks to the Man upstairs for giving me health, vitality and the ability to be able to work out with the intensity and ferocity I do. I was truly blessed and I do not take that for granted. I do not suffer from hypothyroidism, insulin resistance, etc.
Thanks Slapshot and good luck to you too, buddy.
