Default 2 wks down...the rest of my life to go!

Hey everyone! I just finished standard induction yesterday and lost an amazing 10 lbs (even though it was my TOM last week and the scale didn't budge the 2nd week) and I've lost inches everywhere. My ankles look better (like ankles again!!), I feel better, it's incredible and for the first time in my life I am eating without remorse and guilt afterward. It's truly liberating. I signed up for this board back in September last year, then got my approval for bypass and never got started on Atkins. That is until 2 weeks ago and I'm kicking myself for not starting sooner. I decided a few months into my bypass education classes through Kaiser that I didn't want to permanently alter my body surgically, so I stopped going. Even though I have a father who lost a toe and his eye sight to diabetes by 50, a grandmother who had diabetes and died of a heart attack by 55, and a grandfather and aunt who are both diabetic, I didn't have the tools necessary to take charge of what I was eating. It wasn't until my 31st birthday at the end of July that I thought "You're not getting any younger, dangit, do something! Anything!" So I busted out my dusty copy of DANDR and started reading. I started the diet the following day. I can't believe the difference it's made. I have more energy, I'm doing yoga and walking most nights of the week/weekend and I don't really miss anything that much. Once the cravings were out of my system, it was totally doable. This board has been such an inspiration to me. Everyone's success, everyone's inevitable challenges/obstacles to overcome, they all show me that I CAN do it. I am looking forward to fitting into the booths at Islands, my fave burger joint (for low carb one of course) because they don't have tables. I am looking forward to going to the mall and not being self-conscious about people looking at me and making comments. I am looking forward to taking pictures playing with my daughter and not automatically thinking something negative about how I look and just enjoying the captured moment. I am looking forward to buying something in an XL from a regular store. I am looking forward to living a long and full life free from all the health issues that I would be saddled with if I kept going down the path I was on. I feel like I've been given a new opportunity and a new lease on life and I'm so enjoying the journey.
