Default a tiny personal victory BUT

I did it! I went to the birthday party and I avoided the chips, the dips, the red velvet cake and cupcakes, and aaaaallllllll the alcohol! It was a challenge and the cake was definitely pylling me in but I did it.

BUT...
My resolve is weakening. I want nachos and a margarita. I also want sugar. I thought that by now I would be over the sugar cravings. I am losing very slowly and I'm starting to question whether I want to do this for the rest of my life.

I've only been doing this for just about a month but only correctly for 2 1/2 weeks. Is this just a phase? Did anyone else go through this?

Default Re: a tiny personal victory BUT

I am in the same boat as you. My cravings went away after a while and for the most part they still are.

But I was in the grocery store today in search of anything different or exciting for a snack cause its too easy to get bored with the options, and I ran into my worst enemy, the candy aisle. I was literally, a hand reach away from my colorful fruit jelly candy, rolled in pure real sugar...
Its like a bad breakup, I instantly think about all the fun and happiness they give me, the good times we had together. Its sugar. Its addicting and I dont know if I will ever be able to just treat myself to one, like I should have before so I wouldnt be in the mess to begin with.
I miss nachos too. I miss wine, I miss real pepsi, cause diet anything sucks.
And I havent seen much of a change in my weight either. 5 lbs maybe and tomorrow will be 3 weeks solid in the induction phase with not one cheat, not even a bite. I cant figure out why I feel so inclined to continue with no such results.

But out of nowhere this evening my significant other, grabbed the shame of my upper arm and told me they felt much skinnier and it made it all worth it in a matter of a few moments.

What works for me is to remind myself that I have already enjoyed all the yummy things, I know what the satisfaction feels like to eat them or drink them. I had them all before. And maybe one day when I am less 20 lbs for a long time and feel happy and comfortable again, I can find out where they sell the jelly candies individually wrapped so that I can enjoy one or two on occasion. I can remind myself how long this took and how hard it was and how well worth my decisions right now are...

Thumbs up Re: a tiny personal victory BUT

It sounds like your BOTH doing WONDERFUL Ladie's !!!

The BEST advice I can give you on weight loss that has been given to me & is holding true after 8 months & 50 pounds down is this:

We did not put the "weight on" over night & for true long lasting "weight loss" it is not going to come off over night !!!

Slower is better .05 to 2 pounds tops a week is what my Dr say's is what the newest weight loss studies are saying & then some weeks we will not see even that !!!

She is a true beliver in Atkins, here Huband & 2 Nurse's are on the Program as well. So thankfully Iam able to ask her questions re: the Program during my Monthly Visits !!!

We will hit stalls, times the scale seems not to move in what seems like forever. I usually notice then that I loose inches, as my clother get looser & my face thinner.

I know that Iam healther than I have probally ever been in a very long time & I have Lupus. Iam off my HBP & Type II Diabetes meds after only 5 1/2 months on the Program !!!

So Hang In There & Keep On ~ Keeping On With What Your Doing & You Will Get To The Shining Light At The End Of Your Weight Loss Tunnel !!!

I hope that in some small way that will help you a little!!!

It took weeks for my cravings for sweets to go away (mostly). I still avoid the candy & ice-cream aisles at the store, drive home a different route to avoid seeing the Dairy Queen sign...but I don't CRAVE like I did the first few weeks.
I did eliminate most sweets from my diet (no diet pop, coffee with cream only, no splenda, very few "induction legal" deserts...), they say that helps alot (even artificial sweeteners can make us crave sweets). It does get easier over time, and once you start seeing real results (and you will!!!), it just makes it that much easier.

Wink Re: a tiny personal victory BUT

I thought this might help as well ~ I was a Type II Diabetic until May 09' & I seem to crave sweets at night, what I have found works best is to go the other way.

These Snacks are Induction Friendly & I still use them now during OWL when a crave a lil something later
on at night or between meals!!!

I have listed for you below some of my fav's that are very low in net carbs!!!

2 Baby Kosher Dill Pickles = .42 net carbs

6 sml Stuffed Green Olives = .18 net carbs

1 Large Hard Boiled Egg = .39 net carbs

1oz Natural Cheddar Cheese = .40 net carbs

1oz Whole Milk Mozzarella Cheese = .62 net carbs

Use a sml Flat Glass Dish, 1oz Shredded Natural Cheddar Cheese on botton,1/2 to 1 tablespoon Real Bacon Bits on top & microwave for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes, let completely cool & then loosen with a fork, break or cut into smaller pieces & you have a cruncky snack=.5net carbs.

I use a Coated Paper Plate & cover the Bottom with Plain Pork Rinds, then sprinkle 2oz Shredded Natural
Cheddar Cheese on top , then 1 to 2 tablespoons Real Bacon Bits on top of that, microwave 1 to 1 1/2 minutes
& enjoy=1 net carb

Note : Shredded Whole Milk either of the 2 above recipes!!!

All 7 are very low in net carbs & at night Iam usually low or out of carbs. If I go over Its only by a tiny bit & my
mouth is very happy!!! Also all 7 seem to make me crave to drink extra water so its a win~win all the way!!!

I've been blessed with anti-carbo genes or something. I never crave chips, sweets, etc. I guess it must be tough craving certain foods but I'm sure that in time your metabolism will adjust and your sweet cravings will diminish. What people do not realize that changing any habit, puts a stress on our organisms and I guess it takes time for our bodies to adjust.
