| Wow, those goals are pretty agressive! Can I make a suggestion? What is going to happen if you don't lose 50lbs in 8 weeks? (I lost 28 my first 8 weeks, and I thought I lost SUPER fast). I'm afraid that you are setting yourself up to fail...why not set goals that you can meet? Instead of x pounds by some date, reward yourself with a manicure or massage or anything that isn't food

| I have to agree with Julie -- it's great you have goals, but if you don't make those goals (we can't say what our bodies will do) you need to make sure you are ready to stay on plan until you do. You can loose a lot of weight and some people do so quickly, but it's impossible to predict or force our bodies to do more than they can. If you eat only the foods on the acceptable food list, drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water daily, exercise and take a vitamin and mineral supplement daily you'll be doing great. Will you be cooking for yourself or eating at the cafeteria at school? If you are cooking make sure you have the food list with you when you go to the store. Make a copy of this list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html and take it with you when you go to the store. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Learn to read the label on all foods you buy - don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”). The recipe sites are helpful for meal planning – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with. http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html (Linda’s) (Never ending induction recipes)(Never ending induction recipes)(Never ending induction recipes)(Never ending induction recipes)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/58513-never-ending-induction-recipes.html (Induction recipes) (Induction Recipe Basics--More recipes added)(Induction Recipe Basics--More recipes added)(Induction Recipe Basics--More recipes added)(Induction Recipe Basics--More recipes added)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-diet-14-day-induction/6807-induction-recipe-basics-more-recipes-added.html (Induction Recipe Basics) If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck to you! I really hope you are successful!!!

| I really want to be at my ideal weight too. Unfortunately it'll take me until Christmas or later at the minimum, if I lose regularly and at a healthy clip. For me that seems too long but I know it's realistic. I have to be patient and focused. Do you use FitDay.com? That's a pretty good resource to help you stay on track every day. It's a great resource for me I know it could be helpful for you as well. I hope you have the motivation to make the lifestyle change to lose the weight for the long term. This diet is not only for weight loss but for a healthier you. You know what they say "it took you a long time to get in the shape you're in" so don't want to set your expectations so high for yourself. Best of luck.

| I can't imagine setting a goal of 50 pounds in 8.5 weeks. Thats nearly a pound a day for 8 weeks straight. We'd all LOVE to do that but if I set myself up for that I think I would find myself very disappointed and struggling.

| Hey guys, Thanks for all the responses. I know it's a very drastic goal for me, but if I say I'll lose 2 pounds a week, I won't push myself as much. I set mini goals for myself weekly, and I know it's not healthy for me, but I'll do whatever it takes to meet that mini goal. If I don't see numbers go down, I get so unmotivated, hence the reason why I'm here again. Yesterday I determined that goal for myself, and today I weighed myself in a couple minutes ago, after I ate lunch, and I'm at 194.2. I did work out yesterday, and I didn't eat past 5:30. Today I worked out for 3 hours, and I ate a salad. So I know I can do this. My body loses weight quickly. I used to run track in high school, and I used to be so skinny then. I'm doing the same work outs right now that I did in my practices. I'll definitely let you guys know how I'm doing. I drink about 5 liters of water daily, and I'm eating only Atkins safe foods. Thanks for your concern everyone. I appreciate it. I'm just an extremist, and I need to see drastic changes, or else I won't change or push myself. I wish I can just snap my fingers, and be skinny =( I said I wouldn't have any more depressing messages, so the good news is that I lost 6 pounds! =) yayy! I know it's water weight, but that's still something! I'm also planning on running a 10K late October. So the training for that will also be a good way to lose weight and get in shape. Thanks again everyone.

| Hi Reena, For how much you're working out, Fitday.com will show you all those calories you're burning and what you're taking in. Those numbers alone may convince you that you're on the right path. I got a bit obsessive with everything about Atkins (calories/fat/protein carb percentages, turning ketostix dark, every morsel I was taking in) and FitDay helps keep it in perspective. It's really a great tool for me. It also shows your nutritional breakout- with hours and hours of exercise you definetly want to make sure you're eating a well rounded diet. Remember if you don't eat enough food you won't burn either! Best of luck sounds like you're doing great. I need that much exercise but am not there yet.
