| I reached target!! Age 51 - 1m69 (5'7") Start weight - 98kg (216.1 lb) BMI/34 Start date - 15JUN03 Goal weight - 65kg (143.3 lb) BMI/22.5 Goal date - 12FEB04 Current weight – 64.7kg (142.7lb) BMI/22.5 on 22FEB04 Loss to 22FEB04 – 33.3kg (73.4lb) Measurements (as at 22FEB04): Waist – currently 30.9 inches, for a total reduction 14.1 inches Hips – currently 38.0 inches, for a total reduction 10.5 inches Thighs – currently 21.7 inches, for total reduction 6.8 inches I feel great, years younger than before I started this WOE - I see no reason ever to back to my old ways as I'm enjoying myself far too much! (Fuller details of my progress on 'Atkins' are in my Journal under the title "Bill's Weekly Journal"). Good luck to everyone else who is either still 'a work in progress', or who has already made it

| :wave Well, it has happened. I am within 5 lbs. of goal. I might just stay where I am at. I have actually been told that I am getting "too thin". Tomorrow is donation day. Clothes to the shelter, 2nd load. Thanks to all who have helped with support and advice. Now if I can get over my carbophobia to find my ACE.................... :help

| Hey there, I've used this board (and recommended to others) since last Sept, it has been a great resource for me. Start weight : 214 Start date: 9/2/2003 Goalweight 180 Goal date 1/15/2004 Current weight: between 176-181 (It is now about "moderation" and knowing which foods effect me and which ones don't). I figure if I can stay in this range for a year or so I should be safe - my body will have adjusted to this new "plateau" For those looking for "success" stories, I would definitely have to say I am one. This way of life has rid me of my migraines (which I got at least 4 times a month - sometimes more) and was on daily medication which wasn't even working. My cholesterol went down from 208 to 198 when I was still at 192lbs, I will be having it re-checked again soon. The good/bad mix was fine.... I love to point out to the "naysayers" how it the way of eating must be bad for you, to which I reply "So am I healthier at 214 lbs, eating junk food and carbs (and probably over 2200 calories/day) or at 180lbs, with lower cholesterol and eating the food that is most efficient for my body? By dropping the 30+ lbs aren't I then putting less stress on my heart, bones etc??" That usually shuts them up..... My keys to success were: 1. Water 2. Water 3. Water 4. Don't cheat/don't get discouraged - I think I only lost 6 lbs in the first part, but was then consistently dropping 3-4 a week. I was also very certain to not "sneak" carbs - don't let others tempt you 5. Be prepared - If you aren't sure if there will be "carb friendly food" at your destination, bring something or eat right before. The best Christmas present I got was from somebody in the office - she gave me a huge bag full of the Atkin bars, beef jerkey, caffeine free diet coke etc. When I was hungry I always had a snack. 6. Use this board for education/encouragement. 7. Water - did I mention this already? |
