| I have lost around 115 lbs since June 2003. Took off most of this weight in less than five months. My trick has been to do what I am told. I stuck to it. I did several things that are not recomended like staying on induction almost the whole time. But I belive that most of my skill came in the area of exercise. I started from day one and have not missed one day. Many would suggest that I am (and did) overdoing it. However, it worked for me. As well I did not have any low carb Atkins bars or anything else. The other reason I think I was able to stick to it was to "keep it simple". I ate the same breakfast and lunch (with tinyvariety) everyday. This worked for me. I weighed 282 lbs and today I weighed 166. I had a piece of cake today, a big one. I feal bad about it. But I have become some obsesive about loseing weight that it has started to get to me. I feel bad about the cake becuase I am so afraid to turn back to my old habbits. However, I can't keep the simplcicty up forever. And I have felt dizzy for months and now that I have to increase calories. Cake not a good choice. |

| Hey for some reason your name got lost But congratulations! I'm 1 pound away, and I'm really having a hard time reintroducing carbs without binging on "bad" foods. It's like I'm scared of carbs now. But if you're dizzy, you can let yourself go a little bit. As long as you keep up the exercise you will be able to burn off extra carbs. Remember the Induction phase is really only supposed to last 2 weeks, Lifetime Maintenance is supposed to last a lifetime. It's a lot of fun seeing the scale move but at some point you need to toss it away. Anyways congrats on your success! :laughing |

| Start Date: August 18, 2003 Goal Reached : December 23, 2003 Start Weight : 220 Goal Weight : 155 Goal Reached - 65 lbs lost Ok I wrote this long pompous 5 page success story and was ready to post it but decided not to. Instead I'll limit it to a few thoughts on the diet and future goals. The diet is great. I found this website 2 months into my diet and wish I found it earlier. I corrected and adjusted so much in my diet just from all that I have learned here on this site. So all my compliments go out to the members here as much as the Atkins diet itself. My Diet: (Modified OWL) Okay I rushed it a little bit and never got further then induction and some nuts, remaining at less the 20 carbs per day. And yes I counted calories and kept them pretty low. Even though I was supposed to start cycling through the other phases earlier I still intend on doing so now. If I lose more weight doing so, I won't complain to much I could be completely wrong about this but according to my calculations, out of the 65 lbs I lost about 7 lbs of it came from muscle. I have no clue if that is good or bad but from the little bit I researched so far puts it at a good ratio. Anyway I started to take whey protein to help. It did help but eventually slowed and stalled the weight loss. Being so close to my goal at the time I decided to discontinue using it until I reached my goal. Ok I'm now at my goal weight and I went from 32% to 13% body fat. I would still like to get the body fat percentage in between 10-12%. So I want to lose a little more fat and at the same time increase in lean body mass. I think this will fall right into place in the future with the added protein supplements plus moving up the Atkins phases. Also I'll try and get some Before and After pictures posted soon. Thanks for everyone's help.
