Default My story..hopes it helps!!

Well, here's my story. It doesn't quite have "success" in front of it yet, but I'm getting there! :joy :joy :joy

Let me start by saying I was always the big one in my circle of friends..middle school and highschool. I was also the biggest of my sisters. I weighed 170 in highschool, which my not seem like much but i was only 5 feet tall!! If I gained one more pound, i'd be round!! Well, I never did do anything about my weight, just hung out with the WRONG crowd, you know the one that only cared about one thing. Needless to say, I graduated when I was 17 with all of my weight, and a drug habit.

Now I'm almost 20, married to the man who literally saved my life, and a very proud mommy to a beautiful baby boy. WOW...Life goes by so fast! I never would have thought two years ago that I'd be a mom at 19. When I found out I was expecting, I weighed 178. I decided then that I had to get control of my life and at least exercise and eat healthy for my boy. And just when I started to make progress, I was in a terrible car accident, so all of my exercises stopped. The recovery was excruciating. I was on bed rest for 90% of my pregnancy, so when I delivered I weighed 208. I feel as though my life has been one big blur of caios. Now, I weigh 183 and I am going to do this. I started yesterday...don't laugh...and I've lost 3 pounds..yes water but who cares!! I finally put my heart into something and it worked. I feel so great that I am even a member on this board. The emotional support and the beautiful words of everyone have lifted the burden and the feeling that I couldn't to this .And as you all know...that burden weighs more than any of us want to lose. My point of all of this is to never ever give up on yourself. Not on your self esteem, your weight, nothing!! You are worth EVERYTHING that you could ever want..and you deserve it. You owe it to yourselves to continue on your path to success. OR if you're new and not sure if you want to do this..go for it. Don't let life pass you by. I have missed out on the joys of being a teenager and being young and care free. I refuse to let anymore time pass me by. I WILL take control of my life, I have too much to live for, and I know you do too. You deserve this... :icondance :icondance :icondance :icondance

PS If anyone ever needs a buddy or some support..PM me..I'll be glad to help out!

WOW!! Plain and simple that was a fanstastic, heart-warming post that I can completely relate to! I too, had always been overweight growing up, althought it wasn't so "noticeably" bad until probably end of 10th grade and from there the weight kept coming and the fact that I had the biggest pair of denial glasses on didn't help either. I had tried all different diets with the common trend being very restricted eating of bleh-no taste food...and the conclusion I've come to (even after only being on atkins for 6 days now) is that the success isn't necesarily measured by pounds or inches, but more appropriately by taking the hardest step and deciding to not only put yourself first, but to adopt a whole new lifestyle of eating that is contradictory to many of the past diets and things we have read about healthy weight loss programs in the past. So, in my book you are already more than a success and the fact that you lost some weight on top of that is just like putting icing on a metaphorical-induction friendly cake :icondance I wish you the best of luck with everything and seriously if you want a buddy I would love to join up since I'll be 20 in a month and a 1/2 and am also new to the whole atkins eating style. Personally, I'm not weighing myself for a month because I don't want to be ruled by the scale, but more by how I feel...and since I can feel the inches dropping that doesn't hurt either!

Have a great atkins friendly day

Wow, that is a lot for one so young. Just think of all the *character* you'll have

Three pounds is fantastic. It has to start somewhere. And you are young, so you're not fighting all that aging stuff us old people have to deal with. You'll do great. :hug

That story was just heartwarming. I can tell that you have such amazing drive and passion, just because you would need it to deal with what seems like a pretty chaotic life. I think you are going to do amazingly well and I can't wait to see your progress. This'll be fun.
