Default Work ruining your diet? TIPS!

I've noticed a lot of us have problems holding onto this WOL because of where or when we go to work. Heres some tips I've found help me out when the situation is less than perfect!

1. Don't carry change with you to work!
At my last job, I got in the habit of keeping a lot of change in my desk for the evil snack machines! Don't let it suck you in, it seems innocent and easy and cheap, but it definately catches up with you! I wish they'd stock those things with beef jerky or something... I discovered Take 5's there, and cleaned out the machine!

2. BIIIIG WATER BOTTLE! I kept a water bottle on my desk, and every morning I'd go fill it up at the water fountain. If its cold out, I brought green tea and used the hot water spout on the water fountain for a nice warm change. Keeping it always handy and right in front of you will hopefully keep you away from the coke machines.

3. BRING YOUR OWN FOOD! I used to work at starbucks. THE worst place to work if you're trying to diet. The smell of coffee and chocolate... two of my FAVORITE things, being around it 8 hours a day... lets just say my composure didn't last. Having constant access to Chantico's and Pastries was daunting. Thankfully right behind the store was a subway, so on lunch, i'd go get a salad! Or bring my own snacks to work.

4. If you work in fast food, here's my advice: Read up on all the crap thats in it, and how bad it can be for you. Personally I used to work at Dairy Queen, usually in the AM, so after a while the smell of grease and watching old people mop up buscuits and gravy really did the trick *shudder* French Fries are one of my favorite things in the world, so to keep myself from ordering anything naughty, I just watch them cook. Seeing those things submerged in all the oil and grease, then comparing that to something fresh from a salad... theres no contest, especially on how you feel afterwards.

5. Grocery store clerk? Be positive! Don't say "Look, theres all this awesome candy I can't have" say "Look, theres all this amazing seafood and veggies just for me!" Give it a positive twist, and see how great it is for your diet. You have an endless supply of GOOD foods, focus on that and not what you are restricting yourself from having.

6. Desk job where you can't eat 5 or 6 times a day like you want to? I keep a snack drawer full of goodies I -can- have, and I just nibble a snack whenever I need to. It isn't a perfectly weighed and planned out mini meal, but its something, and its something in the right direction.

7. A friend you work with asks you to get fast food with them EVERY SINGLE LUNCH BREAK? (my personal experience here lol). You don't want to be antisocial, but you fear your will power will give in the mcdonalds drive through? I went along strictly for the ride, to get out of the office, and to chat with a friend. Add up eating out every single day for a month? Its not cheap. Thats a big motivator for me not to say "just this once" this once turns into every day, and your pay check and your waist line will suffer.

This all is just from my personal experience. I know having certain jobs can be a really strain on the will power when chocolate and cheesecake and godknowswhatelse is right in front of you. When all else fails, focus on your work. Say to yourself you are here to serve customers, not nibble their possible purchases!

LOL, those are very good ideas. SInce I dont work, i don't have those problems right now, because at school, i don't usually eat lunch anyway

Great advice.. Im a waitress and I've noticed I do great all week, then saturday morning comes around (I work weekends) and before i know it im sitting there with a pancake, bacon and toast. This weekend though, ill do better armed with this advice.
