| This is the reality of spot reduction. Basically it is fat that makes those man boobs. Some people have big butts, others have big guts. Some have big arms, others have big legs. What we need to do is just keep burning fat, eventually it will go down. Most likely it could be the last thing that goes. I know some very overweight people than have no man boobs - lucky them eh! Just be glad you are not 30 like me, and not only are they man boobs, but big hairy man boobs! ![]() So it's all about getting that body fat as low as it goes.

| Hello and welcome to Atkins and ADBB! First of all you are very wise to begin changing your life PERMANENTLY at such a young age .. I wish I had been as smart as you when I was 15!! You have found a good book .. actually though the 2002 version would be your best bet since Dr. Atkins himself wrote it and it does not include alot of the processed low-carb foods as acceptable foods for induction (i.e. lc shakes, bars, etc). You would do very well to avoid ALL PROCESSED FOODS, LOWCARB OR NOT, and stick with whole unprocessed foods that contain nothing but unadulterated nutrition (i.e. eggs, meats, non-starchy veggies, etc). Congratulations on your commitment to exercise, that's awesome! Burning body fat for fuel is what Atkins is all about and you should be well on your way to a trimmer body (ALL OVER) by following Atkins and working out. My best advice would be to make Atkins your way of life from here on out and not just until you lose the weight. Many many people can testify to the sad fact that when they stopped the plan and went back to eating carbage, the weight returned plus more! YOU CAN DO THIS! Betty

| I have to agree with Dave here...we all have "trouble" spots, and unfortunately you can't spot reduce...if we could, I'd have skinny thighs and big boobs. Instead, it's the opposite. However, I'll say this too...most times the Atkins plan immediately reduces the body fat that is stored in the torso (chest, abdomen, hips), so you could be in luck! I'd give it a good shot for about 6 weeks. You need to measure that area with a tape measure, and take pictures to compare again in 6 weeks. You'll be seeing yourself in the mirror every day looking for changes, comparing to what you looked like yesterday or even earlier that morning...and of course, you aren't going to be able to notice the miniscule changes that happen daily. If you take pictures, they'll tell you the true story, and the tape measure too.

| do push-ups make sure you feel that burn then you know your burning fat and getting energy to the muscles in your chest as well as all over. The burn is nothing just keep tellin yourself its easy no matter how much you wanna quite. |

| I thought cardio burnt fat and toned muscle? Then with weights you could focus on toning ur arms and sit ups/push ups for ur tummy. I would definately get some advice from a personal trainer or PE teacher about a programme or exercises you can do to focus on certain areas of your body. Altho this diet focus' on burning fat it will definately come off all of you, maybe taking longer in certain areas than others. Stick with the diet and drink ur water. Good luck!
