Gained weight ?? grrr

I've been trying to avoid the scale, but broke down this am... and was bummed to see it was at 169.2
All I can figure is it's all the exercise I've started & that I'm gaining more muscle. So, I'll try not to let the numbers discourage me... I know I'm rigorous about staying on plan, so I'm not beating myself up. I do think I can cut back more on the splenda, tho. Right now I'm going to search the BB for posts about exercise/weight gain correlation... I know there's gotta be something on there about it! I have a physical for work tomorrow & don't want to be shocked (unhappily) as I usually am when their scale & mine don't agree... Oh well, like I said -I know I'm doing all the best things for me, I just have to have patience to see it pay off.

There is some correlation; when you begin to exercise you gain muscle, which weighs more than fat. Did you take your measurements at the beginning? That is a much more accurate gauge for real weight loss. Plus, I have seen a few things on the BB where some people go ahead and weigh each day and then after a time they begin to see a pattern to their weight loss. For example, one lady says that her doctor is doing Atkins and he charts his weight in an Excel spreadsheet; he has a pattern of losing weight for about 3 days in a row and then he gains about a pound; then another loss for 3 days followed by a slight gain, etc. I'm going to try this for a month so I can see if there is a rhtym that my body has when it comes to losing this weight; that way I am not disappointed when I step on the scales. Even then we can always fall back to looking at our measurements when the scales seems to be not moving down. Also, I remember this lady's doctor says that the Ketostix are a very good tool because they indicate that your body is indeed in a fat-burning mode regardless if it's reflected on the scales.
Hope this helps; keep up the good work and you'll get where you want to be!Posted August 5th, 2008 at 02:51 PM by HappyHeFoundMe
