This WOE is dependent on good planning and proper implementation within strict guidelines. It is easy to get lost in the details of compliance, while the drudgery of the daily routine increases. The call of familiar quick easy carbohydrate items increase to a crescendo. At times I just get tired of coloring inside the lines all the time. Pure and simple, I need to do my own thing at times. The teenage mentality still is in there after all this time, not at the forefront but still there.I've had some success soothing those urges by being more creative in creating dishes with ingredients in the fridge. Recipes are great, but just let yourself go with what you've got. Substitute, add, subtract, or start with a clean sheet of paper when you have great ingredients, it is hard to make an unpleasant dish. For me it is important to make this WOE an extension of who I am. I need to keep the main framework, but I also need to put my own spin on it. I do this with textures, flavors, and techniques. Individual food ingredients are within my stage of Atkins, but there is a unlimited variety of combination of them. Relax, open yourself to trying new things, and discover your inner child again. You will find life becomes much more interesting, when your innate creativity is indulged. It's still in there, just let it out!
