Default Probiotics and anti-fungals

I have killer thrush. I've had it for three YEARS now. I've had multiple courses of Diflucan and Nystatin, been taking Grapefruit Seed Extract and Caprylic Acid internally, been slathering the Virgin Coconut Oil and doing GSE rinses all to no avail. So now the diet.

So the question is how much time should I space out caprylic acid from taking probiotics? I'm taking Culturelle and planning on eliminating all of the yeast friendly foods.

Eliminating the yeast friendly foods sounds like a good start.
Afraid I can't help you with your specific question... hopefully, someone will stop by soon and help you.

I am only realizing that I have had a serious problem with yeast overgrowth and candida, I am getting better, I have the Caprylic Acid in oil form and have the benatine clay but found both way to hard to take, I am still trying it. I found the atkins way of eating, all on its own had a big impact on my yeast colonies... gross huh? I can only say that in retrospect. I have had some weeks where I have been SOO NOT WELL... I totally did not understand it, but i read just the other night that when the yeast in our system is dying from lack of food there is a die off and that we will feel really unwell. I really felt unwell...way worse than induction flu, but I do feel better now... and actually way more clear headed
I went for 2 weeks where I did an induction style menu and cut out vinegar and almost all cheese... it was really hard. I love my apple cider vinegar. but it seems to have helped. I monitor closely what I consume of aged/fermented food... I still don't totally get why these things fuel yeast growth but I believe now that it does.

THis is what I am doing with my supplements, and I am following only my own logic and I feel ok with it... When I can stomach the caprilic acid oil I take it in the morning with my other supplements, I take omega 3's (fish oil capsule) Olive leaf, a comprehensive digestive enzyme, a multi vitamin, green tea, selenium, chromium and cal-mag. and then before Lunch and dinner I take the probiotic... I figure that the digestion of the caprilic acid will have happened before I take the probiotic at lunch.
Another suggestion is that I also take one week off each month of almost all my supplements...I don't know why, mostly because I feel that my body needs that break.

Yeast overgrowth is a difficult subject... All I can say is that given time and the elimination of sugars and things like flour that convert to sugars quickly, you will find that your yeast thing will come under your control. It may take some time... I have been doing Atkins since the end of April and it took almost 3 months before I can see in hindsight that I am seeing a change... I think I may have a ways to go yet, but as long as I behave myself, I can see good things.

How do you take your caprilic acid? have you ever tried benatine clay?

Be well.

Kath

I'm taking caprylic acid capsules from Whole Foods. It does work, somewhat.

My yeast problem is localized on my breast but it's affecting my whole body. It's made me very tired. I'm considering using oregano oil, externally. The downside, of course, is that I'm going to reak of oregano. Apparently even one drop smells like an oregano factory.

I don't know how much food I'm going to have to skip. I was reading a Candida site and it said all spices and all herbs, as well as all cheeses, all smoked foods, yada yada yada.

The die-off makes the person feel horrible. Just awful. Like induction flu X 10.

when I experienced the die off... I seriously could have slept 16-18 hours per day... I am glad to know what it was I was experienceing... and that I was not losing my mind. I remember posting here about it I was so sick... I don't want to experience that again any time soon!

Yeast starts in the mouth and from there it goes throughout the digestive system. Try brushing your teeth 3 times a day with baking soda and swish it around in your mouth. That did a lot towards getting rid of my overgrowth.

For exterior parts of the skin, try tea tree oil. It's strongly anti-fungal.

In order to get totally rid of it, you will probably have to go at least 14 days with no coffee, tea, dry spices, vinegar, condiments, soy sauce, mayo, mustard, nuts & seeds, cheese, mushrooms, nothing with sugar including fruit--in other words--plain meat, eggs and fresh veggies.

It's hard to do, but well worth it in the end.
