| >> had cream in my coffee last night. Could that have caused me to gain 4 lbs of water weight?>> No. >> I only ate 1,200 calories yesterday>> Hmm ... at your weight you might consider eating 1850 calories (10-12 times your current body weight). Undereating, both in carbs or calories can put one in famine mode. >>1 cup brocolli,>> Where's the rest of your vegetables? You need more vegetables! How much water did you drink? Not enough water can = water retention which can show up as a weight "gain"? Here's a secret ... your weight always fluctuates ... sometimes for no reason! Even on maintenance!!! You can let the scale drive you crazy ... or you can kick it into a corner for a while. My advice ... eat properly (get all your vegetables, all your calories, all your water). Read the chapter in DANDR on yeast infections. Above all ... be patient with your body, it's been patient with you for a long time.

Thanks for replying so quickly. Yesterday was a light calorie day. I normally do eat more. As for water, I doused myself heavily yesterday. I drank as much as I could stand. Lots of water and tea (decaf). I think in water I got enough. I need to buy another Atkins book, I seem to have misplaced mine. I appreciate your encouragement. |

| >>I doused myself heavily yesterday. I drank as much as I could stand.>> How much is that "exactly"? At your weight you should be having around 92 ounces. If you have to give up the tea for the water, do that.

| Are you going to start dealing with your candida issues too? I agree with Atkinsgal that you need to eat more veggies and probably a bit more food in general. I'm sure if you address the candida and tweak your diet a bit, results will follow. Do you exercise? Along with masses of water, that's also very important.

| Pinkfeathers, you may, in fact, have candida but the truth is there are a number of reasons why you may not be losing that also are contributing. Here was my reply from another thread you posted... Right now you know Atkins can work for you because you did lose on Induction. But, with the sweeteners- both too much and the wrong kind, nuts, caffeine (I sympathize and have not yet fully given up my java), not enough water, not measuring accurately, (etc.) it is clear that the diet isn't failing you. You just haven't done it correctly yet so you can't really say it isn't working. How about thinking all this out and giving it a couple of weeks done correctly and see what happens. The candida may be the culprit but you also need to do the basics of the plan correctly before you start looking for other solutions. Right now you are looking at limiting your choices even further and you haven't yet done the plan with the standard restrictions and requirements. This WOE requires discipline and patience. |

Yes, I am going to deal with the overgrowth of yeast in my system. I haven't had dairy or cheese in days. I have eaten more veggies. I'm drinking more water, also I've cut out fake sweeteners. (Today I did have 2 splenda, however.) I feel that is a great change for me. I need to do more working out, however. I do great sometimes, then I get lazy. Thank you for taking the time to post to me! I appreciate the great words of wisdom and encouragement!! |

| Hang in there pink. Keep working at doing it right and the results will follow. Having said that, LOL, I'll give you a comparison, just so you can see it isn't all roses for everyone else. I lose a pound a week when I am good. What does that mean? It means no cheats except my coffee. Keeping the cheese down. Keeping veggies up. Keeping calories to no more than 1800 a day. It means 3 weights workouts (I am talking heavy weights not the pastel ones), 2 pilates classes, 3 days of cardio (at least one with intervals), 3-4 days water aerobics, a couple of 2-3 mile walks, less than 3 sweeteners a day and 100 ounces of water daily. That's what I do for one pound off the scale. I am not posting for a pity party--thats just what my body has handed me. Have had thyroid checked. Normal now (was a little low for awhile) candida, maybe but if I have to give up the muushrooms and cheeses I know I will tank on the program so for now they are worth the slow loss. Oh, and this week I am actually one pound more than when I started re-Induction 2 weeks ago but I am not freaking because I know I am doing things right. I am trusting the scale to figure that out at some point. In the meantime, it is banished to the closet. |
