I only just noticed this thread  Another Brit here! Dorset doesnt have a flag yet but there is a competition on at present to decide on a design A County Flag for Dorset Here are the possibles!  Edited to add The contest is over and the flag for Dorset is officially now the bottom right hand one above - a white cross outlined in red on a gold background.

For any other Brits wanting to see if their county has an official flag, here is where the few that are registered are listed UK Flag Registry You need to click on the 'County and Regional' option in the dropdown menu to see the flags for Counties.

It's the other way round actually. The part in the bible is named after my city's name. Thessalonian is the inhabitant of THESSALONIKI, Greece's second largest city and regional capital of Greek Macedonia, home to Aristotle and Alexander the Great. (no relation with the so-called "republic of Macedonia"). Thessaloniki is where St. Paul wrote on of his epistles "to Thessalonians".
