Thumbs up 56 days later first mini goal met 42lbs gone!

I'm celebrating my first mini goal today, I've been on Atkins for 8 weeks and have lost 3 stones/42lbs. I've never lost this much weight before and for the first time in my life can envision my slimmer healthy self. I have more energy than I used to and don't feel tired after I eat anymore.

The weird thing is though I am happy I find it hard believing what the scales are telling me and keep thinking it's wrong even though the numbers keep going down and never back up. Now my underwear and clothes are starting to fall off me and I'm constantly having to pull them back up I'm just convincing myself that the elastic has gone. Tops that were too tight fit better but I just tell myself they've always fit like that. The before and during photos I've taken of myself shows a difference but I just tell myself it's a different angel. Friends and family say they can tell I've lost weight but I just think they're being polite or seeing what they want to see because they love me so much.

So while I am celebrating my hope is to notice a convincing amount of weight loss personally. I guess because I'm so big it's going to take longer for my weight loss to show? My problem area is my stomach, that's where all my weight goes. Arms, legs and butt are ok for a big girl (in fact I love my legs)

I can't wait to get to the stage where I can start using my cross trainer. At the moment I exceed the maximum weight and I'm 27lbs away from being able to use it without fear of breaking it. My exercise right now only consists of cleaning my house (which is fun for me) It may not seem like much but it's a lot more than I used to do. I used to have to sit down when I washed up or take a brake when I cleaned but not anymore!

Because I love to ramble on I'll stop now, but yay! for me and yay! for everyone else who is working hard to achieve their goals. This forum has made my journey so much easier and I appreciate everybody on here.

WOW - 3 stones in 56 days is fantastic! Well done.

If you have struggled with weight and other diets, then I think it is quite common for those doubts to surface, and for you to question your success, especially if you have a fair amount to lose. When you find how effective Atkins is, and begin to feel the benefits, it almost seems 'too good to be true.' But it is true, and you are proving it to the tune of 3 stones!

Look at all those positive points in your post - you have more energy; your clothes and underwear are falling off you (just watch out where you are if they actually fall down! ) clothes are looser - and with all those pounds gone there is no way that is your imagination - those clothes really are looser, because you really are getting smaller; your friends and family tell you they can see a difference because they love you - well I bet for one thing they really can see a difference, and for another that they are just so thrilled to see your success, because, loving you, they will know how much difference it can make to your life; you love your legs, which is great - so many people with weight to lose don't recognise their good points; you can do so much more around the house, and you are planning for the future when you are going to get on that cross trainer and burn off even more calories - and just think how much you willl love your legs then!!

So it is real, and you have done brilliantly so far - keep it up, keep coming here for advice - like a lot of us do, and carry on envisioning your future slim self.

In fact, I think you should repeat after me: 'I have lost 42 lbs - that is Fan-tas-tic and I am going to look even more fantastic '

Thanks guys your encouragement does wonder. I can't believe it's been so quick. I wasted so much time on low fat diets and never getting anywhere besides losing 2lbs a month if I was lucky.

I never thought about that, my OH told me I see myself fatter than I really am and because of my height I carry it better. Who knows, I think he's talking crazy, I'll just persevere, those 42lbs must of gone from somewhere.

Ooh my, in all seriousness what you said just brought a tear to my eye. That's put it all into perspective for me, I need to stop questioning myself and my achievements because I did do this, this is happening. Thank you

Default Re: 56 days later first mini goal met 42lbs gone!

I just wanted to say that is AMAZING!!!! I too have alot to loose... I was at 417 and got down to 380.4... so I have lost 36lbs. Now it wasn't as fast as yours ( wish it was though) , but I understand 100% where you are coming from.

I feel (know) that I did loose this much up til now and it does show, but I am still just stuck feeling "fat" well, that is b/c I am still "fat". However, I know that I'm taking one day at a time to change that. I have also started really LOOKING at women's bodies at my goal weight of about 165-150 (not sure yet) just so I kinda can get my mind out of seeing myself as fat and all fat. It is such a mental thing!!! Unlike many people I don't have "skinny" pictures to compare myself with. I was already a women size 18 in 6th grade (age 11) so I don't know my body really, plus I have had 2 kids and that for sure changes your body.

Anyways... Congrats in a big way and look forward to sharing our successes with each other. When you feel able to do so we would love to see your pictures as well.

Glad you shared your fitday menu. It is nice to see you are really doing it the Atkins way and not short changing yourself in the end... I loved seeing all those veggies!!!!

~GREAT JOB
