Talking Has anyone started with a goal of 50lb or less to lose?

And how long did it take you to lose it? I have 30-40lb to lose and just curious if there is anyone that has or is in the same boat as I am?

I am 175 right now age 38 and want to get down to 140-145! Just curious?

Thanks for any input!! ;-)

the first time i did atkins i went from about 212 to 180 in 2-2.5 months, and the last 10 or so came off cause i got really sick with strep. i was also a lot younger, and i'm going a bit slower now that its 5 yrs later. right now i'm 226/214/170ish, and i'm expecting it to take me 6-7 months. you really cant put a date on your weight loss because its never the same twice though, for all i know it may take me a year, or 5 months. a lot of it depends on how much you work out.

Hello,

Yes I am the same - I have previously lost 35lbs and it took about 1 year. Then I had some problems and re-gained.

Kibstix is right - everyone is different and you cannot predict. Most people lost a lot at first, then it slows right down and stalls, gains are common before getting there.

If you follow the plan to the letter and don't cheat (unlike me) it will be smoother and faster

Good luck.

I know taking 1 year to lose 30lbs can feel kind of daunting, but I remind myself of a few things to keep from getting frustrated too much.
-My highest weight was 250 and I started atkins at 226. So I lost about 25lbs before I started, but it took me two years to do that.
-Its a heck of a lot better than getting to your next birthday and weighing more. I've done the "oh i'll lose this much by my birthday" thing a LOT. My birthday is in 9 days, and this is the first time in my life i'll weight less on this birthday than my last one.
-slow and steady is good. It didn't take a couple months to put it on, why should it take less than that to get rid of it?

I think we have a lot in common! I'm 39- and started last January at 180 lbs. I am now 151, I'd like to get to 140 ( maybe, we'll see but everyone is different. I've ben pretty lucky- a steady loser for the most part. I''ve also started exercising which makes a HUGE difference. Good Luck!

The last time I did Atkins, I started at 170, and I got down to 130 in 3.5 months. This time around, it's taking a LOT longer!

Yep- I started january 5 2009. For the most part, I've been following the plan well- but I'll tell you- the chocolate bunnies left lying around the house by my kids are testing me to the limits- time to go find some dark chocolate I think....
