Hi Cleochatra,

I have lost over 100 pounds ..

Did it by reading this board everyday..

Never cheated( that I know of)...

The world is totally different now in so many ways it would take a month to list them all....

If you want it it will happen. Just listen to the folks here and do everything they advise.

My journey has been a whirlwind of amazing changes since I started Atkin's. I had a rocky start. But after finding this Board and reading DANDR, following the rules and a lot of hard work, the pounds began to melt away. I found this WOL to be the easiest thing I have ever done, and the best thing I have ever done for myself.
My story was really a pathetic one... (It is posted at the loser's lounge in the main forum if anyone is interested)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...8&start=15

I have endured stalls, complications with Blood Pressure, a nasty intestinal infection, and a lot of personal challenges since I began this WOE. But I can tell you now, it may have been much worse had I not lost the weight. This WOE has become second nature. I have made a few questionable choices over the past few months. But my resolve is stronger now and I intend to complete this weight loss journey with more determination than ever, to reach my goal.

If you are considering Atkin's...all I can say is, do it!! Try it by the book for 2 weeks. You will never turn back! No matter if you only need to lose 20 lb's, 120 lb's, or even more... This plan can work. Does work!!
So many on this board are living proof that it can change your life forever. You have control. You only need to focus on the fact that, Only you can do this for yourself.

My blood pressure has stabilized! My cholesterol numbers are nearly normal! I have energy! I can stand the sight of my reflection in a storefront now! I have new clothes! My mouth smiles a lot !!!

If you stumble, move on... This is not a race! This is a way of life. We didn't gain our eating habits overnight. They were learned over the course of our lifetime. Our new WOL will change over the course of the rest of our lives. And I am fairly certain that the rest of our lives will be improved dramatically with this WOE... You can do this.
I wish you all the best.

Hugs, Tammy

Well, here goes.. I have lost 147 pounds on this WOE..although I had already lost 25 pounds or so from my highest weight..WOW, never really thought of it that way, but I guess I have lost 170 pounds of what used to be me! (that sounds kinda scary to me)

I have been overweight my whole life. weighed around 200 pounds when I got married 15 years ago, and with each pregnancy, I just packed on a few more pounds until I reached my high of 350. I have done WW so many times, and would give up when the weight loss slowed. I have tried practically every weight loss gimic known to man, with no luck!!

Anyway, I was encouraged to try Atkins by a friend of mine (who only needed to lose 30 pounds).. I kept saying "no way I can eat like that". But after she lost her first 12 pounds, I agreed to give it a 2 week trial.. Well, in 2 weeks I had lost 16 pounds. It was a very difficult 2 weeks.. had induction flu bad, and generally felt icky. I remember one night sitting at KFC crying cause I felt like everyone else had all these good food choices, and I didn't. BUT, I didn't give up, and after the first 2 weeks, I started feeling great. The weight just kept coming off and within 3 months, I had lost almost 50 pounds. I had never had that kind of success with any other plan before. My first 100 pounds melted off within 8 months. I felt a pride that I had never known before. :nod
I have been on this WOE for 20 months now. I can not say that it has been cheat free, or exactly by the book always. But what I can say is that I have learned how to eat, and when I deviate from that for a meal, I jump right back on the next day. Had I been cheat free, who knows, I might be at goal now.. But I have found that I can do a pretty good job of maintaining my weight (been doing that for atleast 4 months now). But I am really cleaning up my act now, cause I want to make it to goal this year! I have found this WOE so easy to follow, cause I know what I can eat, and I don't count calories, or "points".. I just stick with my meats, fats, and veggies each day. I know some folks find it hard eating out, but I always tell my hubby.."lets go somewhere I can get a nice big salad, and some grilled meat" The only eating out I really don't enjoy anymore is fast food (which my body is thanking me for I am sure)

Sorry this was so long. I just wanted to say that, if I can do this, anybody can. I am the queen of little willpower. I look back at the old me, and can't believe the person I see. I have been accused of having weight loss surgery atleast 7-8 times, and I just say "nope, I lost it with diet and exercise". Thank you Dr A. !!

I can't explain how much losing this weight has changed my life.

Before: I never went anywhere. I was depressed, embarrassed, unhealthy, unsociable, never wore makeup, I didn't do any activities with my kids or grandkids. If my daughters or husband wanted me to go shopping or anywhere, I didn't have the energy or want to go out so anyone could see me. I felt so empty.

Now: I don't have enough hours in the day to do all the things I need to get done. I am editor of two newsletters, I am President of the State Writer's league, I organize conferences and speak at workshops. I volunteer a lot in the community. I take the grandkids swimming, to the park, go shopping with my daughters, go on picnics. I am excited to meet new people and socialize with friends and relatives. I jump right in and invite people over and to go places with me. My life is fun, full of adventures and so worth living.

I did it by making a committment to myself. I did the Atkins plan (by the book) I exercised daily (walking, weights and swimming), I kept a journal, I drank my water, took my supplements and never went anywhere without a plan. (I take LEGAL foods with me everywhere. I have a cooler in the car that I pack with tuna packets, pork rinds, water bottles anytime I go somewhere)

Wow! I have found enough inspiration here to last me for a couple of days. I can tell this is going to be one of my favorite boards to visit.

I started Atkins one week ago and have already lost 9.5 lbs! I was on WW for over a year, lost 60 lbs and got tired of counting points. So I hope to lose the other 50+ here with you all!

Thanks for the inspiration!
PhatMax
