Default Loosing over half my current weight seems daunting

I am about a week into this WOE. So far I love it. Less cravings, stable mood...etc

for my height (or lack there of) 5'2, the charts say somewhere around 125 is normal. I am at 270. So I have to cut my weight by more than half. Seeing it written down is a tad discouraging. But I know I can do it. It wont happen over night but dont we all wish it would?

Do any of you know what an average amount of weight to loose in a year is? Id like to have a goal weight for my 21st bday.

Hi Kissqueen,

I know it seems very scary when you think about how much we have to lose, believe me i know, im in the same boat. But i think we should both aim for smaller goals, that way when we reach them it feels like a accomplishment, instead of just thinking about your final goal and how far away it is.

I dont think their is a average weight loss for everyone. Everyone is different and it all depends on what you do or eat.

Hi Kiss! Welcome to the century club. Everyone loses differently. The first time I did Atkins, I lost 100 pounds in 8 months. This is my 3rd and FINAL time, and it took a year to lose 90. My body is fed up with my yoyoing!! Go slow, steady, and most of all, once you get to goal, don't get cocky with what you think yo can eat!

Hey girlie!!

You are so right in that it is very daunting. I'm two weeks in and have lost 10 pounds, and even with that motivation, I'm feeling down about it. This process to wean ourselves away from food is not easy!

We weigh the same amount right now, and girl, I tell you if I could go back and conquer my issues when I was merely 20, I would have. When is your 21st birthday?
You have a ton going for you. You're young, and that always speeds up the weight loss. I can't tell you how different it is doing atkins this time then it was when I lost weight before my wedding just four years ago. It's sooo much slower now. So you should be able to lose fairly quickly provided you are doing all the right things.

Keep at it and keep us posted!

Report on every minor detail of your journey here on Atkins ... we all take great pleasure in the progress even though for you, it may seem like it is overwhelming. I know of what I speak. I have lost over 300 pounds since starting Atkins and I just kept saying to people ... "but you don't understand what it is like to have to lose lots of weight". Hang in there ... you will do just fine taking it a meal at a time.

I also have an immense amount of weight to lose, and I'm scared to death. So I plan on focusing on mini-goals. Right now, I'm aiming for 10% of my starting weight, and then I'll give myself a little (non food) reward. Makes those big goals seem a bit less daunting.

Kissqueen, the goal is to make it thru each day, living as you mean to go onward. Be healthier each and every day and try NOT to focus on the "end" as this is a lifestyle change.

You are not going to miraculously make GOAL and then quit and go back to your old ways right? So remind yourself every single day, you can do it, you are healthier today than you were yesterday AND don't quit if you slip, stop your fall as quickly as you can and be healthier (again) the next day.

There's loads of support here too! Good luck to you!

Kathy

kissqueen listen to what the ladies said I wish I had and I would not be sitting here having to hang my head and say here I am starting again
as long as you stay prepared it does get easier every single day
I saw a post somewhere in the stickies I dont remember which forum but the person always carried an emergency kit with them I think that is a wonderful idea
keep a couple of legal snacks in you purse or in your desk at work where ever you may need them (think beef jerky porkrinds cheese sticks )
good luck to you
