but i did take it the wrong way. nothing like asking for support and being told im just looking for a way out. considering the fact that i am in dire need of surgery i took what my doctor said and held it on a high pedestal. doesnt mean i cheated when i could, and i do induction to the t. im not justifying stopping because.. i havent stopped! UPMC doctors are regarded as the best in the nation and some of them are the best in the world. for the average person that is going through what i am going through and to have a medical profession in a highly regarded setting scare them would think twice two.. unless they were brainwashed or a complete idiot or something!

| Funny how Weight Watchers keeps coming up. I did it for 3 years, it works for some, it did not work for me. I felt deprived, I did not cut out my half and half for my coffee, so I felt guilty, I was stalled for a year! This diet works for me. I never feel deprived, I actually switched to heavy cream in my coffee instead of the 1/2&1/2. But I get the same reaction. Oh my god, that's so bad for you, blah, blah, blah. I feel better now, I'm losing now, I eat more vegies than my WW friends. I'm not always trying to find a low cal WW substitute for the cookies and bread I used to eat, like everyone on WW's does. I don't cheat anymore, HA! There have been fancy cupcakes hanging around my house since yesterday, I have not had even a taste of one. I have no desire to. Like Mommy2many1 said, eat clean and be a great example. So far you've done wonderfully well and I'm proud of you! You go girl!! Suzanne

| Many doctors are uneducated about nutrition. Sad, but true. My doctor actually took the time over the period I began Atkins because he saw it working both in weight loss and health indicators. He still asks me questions and agrees it is the best thing I ever did with continuing results. No more insulin ... no more blood pressure medications ... lipids are all within normal limits ... and happy to have a non-dictorial physician who will engage in discussion and listen.

| Quil, Don't listen to her. Doctors know so little about nutrition, she is just repeating things she has heard. Just prove her wrong |

| I can tell you right now that many doctors know extremely little about Atkins. My endocrinologist (who is quite nice and learned and specializes in PCOS) didn't realize that I can have 3 cups of vegetables daily. She seemed a little thrown off of her rant when I mentioned that. Straight up, this WOE is generally healthy. I wouldn't let the naysayers get to you until they have a legitimate reason to. |

| There are doctors who promote atkins to their patients - they wouldn't if it was unhealthy. This doctor simply doesn't know the facts. Don't let that rob you of the opportunity to do something really good for yourself.

| Please know most doctors don't give a rip about results if what you're doing doesn't match their personal idea of what's healthy. I'm lucky I have a very cool doc who is older and very open minded. I went to see him February 11th and weighed in at 211 on his scale. His scale weighs me 6 lbs higher than my own. I'm going in for complete blood work on June 26th and I will weigh in somewhere in the 160's. At 211, he was beside himself. He recognized my son but didn't know who was with him. He didn't recognize me. That was size 14. I'm wearing 10's now and they're big on me! I'm telling you he was so beside himself, we didn't even cover some of my health issues. I thought he was going to take me out for lunch or something. He was sooooo proud I had found something that worked. Health care professionals who are open minded can be found. If you have a question about your ovaries or your cervix or uterus, ask your OBGYN. If it's about your overall health, don't bother. The truth is, your obgyn NEEDS to work for a well known medical facility!! Your obgyn chose the practice with highest of all malpractice insurance and probably is still paying off six figures of student loan debt. If weight watchers worked for everyone, there wouldn't be so many former WW members here. The fact is, for some people, weight watchers just means....watching your weight go up, up, up. No, thank you!! I'll keep doing what works for me. Don't be too terribly impressed by the reputation of a certain medical facility. I've lived in several different areas of the U.S. and overseas and I've never heard of that place or it's reputation. I come from a medical family and I haven't heard of it. You're doing what's right for you and that's what matters. This WOL absolutely works if you work the formula. You've got to make sure you take your vitamins and supplements, drink your required water, get your exercise in and follow the plan to a T. Sounds like that's what you're doing!! You're going to fine. I promise. The older you get, the less what other's say to deter your DETERMINATION will bother you. Prove that doc wrong!! |

If you took it the wrong way, that is your decision. I'm kind of glad it upset you to be honest because that means you really want this. Keep it up regardless of what anyone does or says around you. |

| I have talked to other doctors that know how it works and they love it. It's her opinion. It is not the Medical associations stand point. Even weight watchers is beginning to low carb. One thing to remembre about opinions... Everyone has one. Please remember that Dr. Atkins was an MD too.
