Default Emigrating to Canada

Hi all. . . We have been thinking long and hard about emigrating for a couple of years and have finally made the decision to go for it. OH has family in British Columbia and Banff. We filled in an elligibility test online and it seems we have enough points to qualify but that is where we run dry. I was wondering if anyone has made the move or has any more info on what to do next? as all the sites seem to be linked to lawyers offering their services which I am a bit wary of.
Also anyone living in those areas I would love to know more of what life is like there, ( I get a biast view from oh family as they would love us to go out there). We have 2 children aged 6 and 12 who we have to win over aswell lol. Thanks so much in advance.x

Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada: Homepage This is the Gov't of Canada's official Refugee and Immigration website, Not sure if you had come accross this yet? Maybe it will help.

I do not live in BC but hear it is absolutely beautiful. We do have a BC member here I will send her a link to this thread.

As for Canada it's an absolutely wonderful country to live in, I wouldn't live anywhere else in the world!

Hello, I live in British Columbia. Depending on where you want to live the climate can change from high desert to alpine, to prairie to coastal. We have wine country, as well as agricultural areas, There is fishery and mining, along with the typical urban areas.

The area where I live has a lot of ranching and forestry in the area. Our weather this winter has been lots of snow and cold weather, more so than in the past few years. When the warm weather comes it can get very warm here but not to extremes.

The area where my daughters live has warmer temperatures but they live closer to the desert area. Also the wine country part of the province. One son lives in more of an urban setting. He is in the lower mainland, Vancouver area. Other son is in more of the fruit growing area.

There is a great variety of landscape here. The coastal areas are beautiful with their seascapes. But then you have the mountain areas, either the coastal mountains or the Rockies with their unique landscapes as well. There is one area about 250-300 miles from the coast following the Fraser canyon which is desert type climate and landscape. There is also an area in the lower part of the province close to the border with America that is high desert complete with cactus not the same type as they get in Arizona but cactus just the same.

The variety of landscape in BC is one reason the movie industry does a lot of filming in BC.

Not sure what else I can tell you.

Hi velcrocat, It sounds wonderfull. I am hoping this move will bring a better life for our family. Oh uncle is always talking about community spirit over there and obviously the climate and lifestyle. He says that their is a much greater sense of family aswell and these are all strong held beliefs of mine that seem to be a dying thing here in the UK. As we live in the suberbs here im hoping to settle further away from the city centres, somewhere i can concentrate being a great wife mom and atkins follower.lol.
Thanks for all your info and Sadie those sites have been a great help.Reps on their way to you both.x
