I just started taking 20 mg last week for my depression. I haven't had any physical problems, but I don't feel any better either. The doc said to give it 3 weeks, so hopefully it will work for both of us.

Hey Rick,

Did you start out with the 20 mg or did you start at 10 like I did?

How is the nausea for you? I'm still feeling a little queasy after I eat and I don't have much of an appetite. I had some headaches at first but those are gone as well.

I've also been dog tired in the evenings, so I'm thinking that's another side effect.
Generally though, I do feel fine.
I sure hope it helps you! It sure helped me back a few years ago when I needed it. As I recall it was a gradual lifting of that heavy feeling. I'm heading into two weeks of super stressful times at work so actually, I can use all the help I can get right now so I'm glad I'm on this.

I haven't had any physical side effects at all, and I started at 20mg. Of course I outweigh you by 80 pounds, too. The first day I felt a bit antsy, but that may be due to my relief that the doctor gave me something that would eventually lift my spirits. I will keep you informed. You do the same.

I remember being a little nervous at first when I was on it a few years ago because I didn't know what to expect. I was thinking I'd be feeling all drugged out, but that wasn't the case at all.
Yes, keep in touch and let me know how you're doing.

Moochiecat,

I've been taking celexa for years to even out my monthly cycle of moods (read PMS). It has been very effective and I'm a happier person as a result. I have no plans to ever go off antidepressants. Just thought I'd give an example of a positive experience.

Thanks, it's encouraging to hear about your experiences.
This last period was VERY manageable, I'm relieved to say, but the one before that just knocked me out for two days. I'm hoping this last one is setting a trend for the future.

I take Celexa at a 40mg dose. The first time I was on Atkins I was at 20 and took it at night. Going up to 40 about a year ago really altered my sleep for a while (couldn't get to sleep), but I still take it at night. It has worked extremely well for me. The only problems I have are horrible withdrawal symptoms if I forget to take it for a couple of days. That is probably because I am at a higher dosage.

I take 20mg a day, in the morning, and I have for so many years I've lost count. I still remember when I first got on them, the side effects do fade. I was antsy, nervous moving almost, and I lost my appetite for a few days, as well as having a "funny feeling" when I swallowed for the first few days, like I wasn't swallowing right. They all faded fairly quickly, and I've had nothing but great results over the years. I have been off of them over the years occassionally, WEANED off of them with the doctor's help, but always ended up back on them after 12 months or less. I've pretty much come to the conclusion, as has the doctor, that I have something wired wrong and just don't make the necessary chemicals to control moods.
