Post Dieting gets me down

I am just returning to adkins for the 2nd time. I am on xanac as needed for depression and anxiety. Not as bad as it was several years ago because i have remarried and am happier in that part of my life. The thing with me now is that fall is here, and my hubby recently had an accident at work and is home and his fuse is quite short. And i can relate, been there too. He would rather be working than stuck at home so he tends to snap at me for little things. But i feel that i am down because i had to make a change in my WOE. I love sweets and good food, and i know i made myself overweight. I know that it will pay off and the rewards for losing the weight will make it all worthwhile. Thats why i have to try really hard to change my way of thinking......THINK ABOUT POSITIVE THINGS , and not get caught up in the negative things. I will succeed and be a happier person! Good luck to all of you!

First, I'm sorry to hear what your family is going through.

I have to ask, do sweets tend to make you feel better (comfort)? I ask because I'm an emotional eater and sweets were always my comfort...my way to make me feel better. However, in the long run (after my binges) I only felt worse. Since starting Atkins on 10/01/07 my cravings have gone away. Not to say that during these weeks that I haven't had any cravings (I have) but I've dealt with them in a positive manner (see my thread..."Kentucky Derby" in the Second Time Around Club). I'm now having to find other positive ways to deal directly with my emotions (the online journal here has helped not to mention the great friends I've made).

You've taken the first step by reaching out to all the wonderful people here.

Best of health to you.

Hi wants! Glad you posted here. Catrena is right, the longer you stay 100% on plan, the quicker the cravings go away. You need to rid your body of all carbs first.

You say you're feeling down because you "had" to make a change to your woe. You didn't have to, you chose to become healthier. That's a real positive thing.

Take care of yourself!
