When you say you got the book, I take it that you mean "Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, Version 2002". Until you can get through reading it, please check out the Induction Forum and the FAQ's Forums. In FAQ there should be a list of what you can have on Induction. Also, there are two other books worth looking into. Dr. Atkins Diabetes Revolution, Version 2003 and Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution, Version 2002. There is an online site for Dr. Berntein's book, which has excerpts in it. http://www.diabetes-normalsugars.com/readit.shtml And yes, you are on the right track. By the way, are you a Type 1 Diabetic or a Type II Diabetic? Happy low-carbing, :hug :hug Linda (Coop)

| Besides the dietary & diabetic aspects of your problem Please Please Please Look at CoQ10 immediately as a supplement It is not cheap but it is very effective. Especially with people who have heart issues. The NOW brand is good or you can buy cheapest from vitacost.com http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ic.php?t=38315

| Hi and thank you Shawnee and Linda for your help. I am a diabetic 2. As of Monday I am no longer in need of med (glucophage) for diabetes. And just 2 days ago my bp is normal so I hope to get off of one of the 2 meds I am on for hbp. :icondance . Have lost 4-5 lbs in these 8 days. Even though I only know a little, the little I have put into practice has paid off already. I hope to do a clean induction once I know how to count these dang carbs. I have never counted carbs or calories before, I will need to get Atkins New Carb Counter book along with the 2002 edition of Atkins Diet Revolution, I have Atkins Diabetic Revolution book. I appreciate all of your past posts I have gleaned from them including recipes and have put to practice what you say. The thing is the diabetic book seems to clash with some of the things I hear on boards about Diet Revolution book. My book says I can have bread during induction, only one slice 3 carbs. I could only find 6 though. Like I said I am not doing it right yet but it is working :nod . Look forward to getting to know you all. I'll be back, Joy |

| :wave :wave :wave you don't need the carb counter book you can get your carbs counted for you on www.fitday.com and it is free and can change the serving size to meet he actualy size you have. you can check out the foods before you eat tehm you can jopurnal your thoughts you can log your exercise and you can link your journal of your foods to the folk on this board if you have trouble or a question and not have to keep typing your menu when you need help as that is usually the first question folk ask. we have a topic about it in our FAQ section to answer your questions on how to set it up. if you look in the stickies there is an induction 2005 challenge you can join for the diabetic folk doing induction. Binsk Canuck and a couple others are in ti and doing good. We don't have a heart health forum here but lots of heart folk are members so just post away in the main forum if you need a question answered. how is your IF? have you been cleared to exercise yet?

| Hi I was typing and all the sudden my screen disappeared, thank you for the info on fitday, I'll give it a whirl. I haven't had and good luck with those kinds of sites before but since my questions for joining are answered on FAQ I think I'll try. (What is your IF ) mean? When I went to the Dr. on the 7th he told me I could run a marathon. I have no heart damage. So that is why it has gone so well, it was caught before that happened. I am blessed! I am way out of shape though. When I walk in my neighborhood it is a workout even for those in shape. Many long steep inclines, like climbing a mountain, so it is not flat. So I get a workout just doing that. I want to and plan on adding other things as I try to decide which ones to add. Yes I e-mailed Canuck she is on vacation, I will be there as well and all over the boards. I want to learn from all of you. I am the new kid on the block and am a sponge right now. Thanks for responding to my post, See you around, Joy |

| IF is injection fraction and that is how they knew you were in heart failure at the time. so your cardiologist said you had a one time occurance of heart failure? great! Good job on the walking soon you will have no trouble going faster and longer! Have you picked your Marathon out yet?
