Default Tried again and not working.

Hi, my name is jacqui. I havent been here for a while. However lately my diabetes has taken a turn and i am now on insulin.

I have tried atkins twice. The first time i lost 12 kilos and i am glad to say i have kept it off. The second time i went on it a year later i lost 4 kilos and then nothing.I was on it for months and stopped losing after 5 weeks. I was very disheartened and quit.

As i said i have diabetes problems and thought about going back on atkins but if i cant lose weight on atkins any more i dont see it being an option for me.

Has anyone else had this problem...i would love to make it a final three times and get this weight off once and for all...any thoughts would be appreciated.

I don't have any answers for you. I think this question would get more response in this thread Diabetes & Atkins Low Carb Living - Atkins Diet vs Journal Chats.

Good luck on your journey & please do start a journal!

Please also check with your doctor and review any medications that you are on. Some medications have been know to stall weight loss.

absolutely jacqui! be sure to talk to the doc. lots of people around here struggle with atkins while on all kinds of meds but they do lose. slow is better than not at all. maybe in a while you will not need those meds! hope you are having a great day. i will keep an eye out for you over in STAC!

Insulin will have an effect on some people on ketosis. As it is supposed to reduce glucose in your blood and store it as fat. Even if you do not eat carbs your ketosis still will turn fat to glucose then the synthetis insulin will lower that blood suger to revert it back. I strongly advise you speak to your doctor before continuing with atkins is you have diabetes and i would monitor blood sugar levels more closely. As a normal person an atkins does not produce as much insulin responces as a person on a high carb diet and normal doses of insulin in which the doctor prescribes are actually based on a person with a high carb diet.

Absolutely, review Atkins with your doctors and perhaps you may be inline for different medications or even a reduction in the ones that you are are on. Years ago I was on a medication causes havic with my system and it took about 2 months after I quite taking it to really get everything back to norma.

So don't dispare, just education yourself about the medications that you are on and find ways to work with them or have the doctors help you with modifying their plans for you.
