| I would like some more info on this too if anyone knows. I am not a diabetic either, but if Kevins blood sugar dropped from getting rid of the caffine; Do you not think it would help us all?

| Wow! I never would have suspected caffeine as a culprit! Believe it or not, I just started drinking coffee about 4 weeks ago, about the same time that I started on Atkins. My blood sugars (I'm Type I on an insulin pump) are certainly not what I would expect on this induction phase...I will stop the caffeine immediately...what about de-caff coffee?? What about 1/2 and 1/2?? What about Splenda?? Any more insights?? Thanks!!

I now drink decaf, but guess what? My doctor showed me a report where it "proves" that not all decaf coffee is really decaf at all.... They found one coffee that had 75% of the normal amount of caffiene.... But I really enjoy iced coffee so I will ( am right now ) trying decaf to see what happens.

| I gave up coffee when I first started this woe and used to have only one cup of tea in the morning (soy milk, no sweetners) I also used to drink tons of diet coke and cut down to one can of cafine free per day. Our church has been fasting for a month and they decided to fast meat and eat only vegies/carbs. Well that didn't fit in with me so I decided to fast my morning cup of tea and evening cafine free diet coke instead. The thing is no I've gone one month with out both and the fast is coming to an end. Should I revert back to my old habits or keep up what I've been doing. I'm sure that having no coffee is good but what effect would one cup of tea have a day. Couldn't be helpful as far as antioxidants go? Any thoughts. Therese. |

| I was having trouble staying awake at work the other day, so I got a cup of regular coffee and put a little Splenda in it. It helped me stay awake and finish my boring day at work. However, I checked my sugar right after the coffee and low and behold blood sugar was up to 171! I tried an experiament the next day and had a diet Dr. Pepper cherry flavor...quite yummy....but afterwards my sugar was up to the mid 150's. So, the caffeine is also a no-no for me. |

| I've discovered the same thing. I was never addicted to caffeine but sometimes at work I will have a diet Dr. Pepper to help me stay awake. I do some REALLY boring work and I am in danger of nodding off. If I have a diet soda which has caffeine my blood sugar will go up sometimes 50 to 60 points! |
