| Carole, I am doing well with out the Tykosyn. No A-fib. I am still struggling to get a pound down. My sugars are very good and I guess that is what my primary goal. I am having a shoulder replacement and reconstruction August 28. A little scary but I already went through the double knee replacement and I don't think I should have any trouble with this. My osteo seems to want all of me.LOL I will still struggle for a while longer. Everyday is a gift. Audrey

| When I was first diagnosed I was sent to a diabetic educator. She gave me a program which had me eating 60 gm of carbs at each meal plus 30 for a bedtime snack! That's 210 gm per day! I'm so glad to have found Atkins. My numbers are great and I can't wait to see my doc on July 6. |

| The nutritionist had me on 225 gm of carbs daily -- they counted each 15 gm as 1 carb.....don't subtract the fiber and I was suppose to have "3 carbs at each meal and the rest were to be distributed evenly between 3 snacks. All I did was figure the next thing I was suppose to eat, how many "carbs" does it have and what time is it. And I had to chart everything I ate, so all I did all day long was eat and chart....amazingly I didn' tloose my mind! Atkins is so straightforward and can really be done without much effort. I do put a lot of thought into my meals to make sure I get the right numbers and so I don't become bored - but nothing like when I was following Claudia's way. My fasting blood sugar was 111 - went back to bed with a headache (sinus) this morning so I took pills late, ate late and really didn't have breakfast - My evening blood sugar was 100 - I had a string cheese about a half hour before testing so it was a little higher than it would have been. I rode 25 miles on my bike this afternoon - had the cheese stick soon after I finished. We had steak & eggs for dinner....got some thin cut NY Strip steaks, made some fried radishes with onion & green pepper in it (Fried Radishes O'Brien) and 2 eggs....that was a wonderful dinner!!!

| Hi - how is everyone? We went grocery shopping this morning - I wanted to go before everyone had the same idea. My numbers have been spectacular lately -- a little lower than normal .... 2 afternoons in a row I've checked because of the fuzzy feeling I get when it's low -- both times in the low 70's. I can just about tell what my number is going to be by the way I feel. I guess that's good because I'm in tune with what my body is doing. Have a wonderful weekend.

| That's wonderful Carole. I also have had good results with my sugar. I take 1 glyburide before dinner at night (5mg) I think that is what keeps my sugar a night so good (95-110) after supper. Good news! I finally broke my stall after 3 months and lost 2.5 pounds last week. I thought it was a mistake on the scale so I kept weighing myself to see if it would change and the numbers would be there for me every day. I think I am ready for increasing my carbs. I have been adding a veggie each day and I think that helped me move my stall. Still can't download my little tags. I will keep trying. My water for July is now my challenge and to walk 2 miles when I can. Audrey

| With a number of 70 I would be wondering if it isn't time to stop taking the drugs? |

| Last month I went to my Endo and Internist -- was hoping I'd get off the meds but I have more health problems than diabetes and the meds I take help keep the other problems under control. I won't go off my meds without my doctors ok -- I know some people do go off their meds by themselves but I don't think it's smart. I have new blood work scheduled for 2 - 3 months we'll see then. My numbers aren't always 70 -- as a matter of fact, for me that number makes me feel fuzzy, eyes don't feel right and I'm lightheaded so it's too low. I can normally tell by what my body feels like, what my numbers are. My high numbers are normally no more than 110 but when it gets around 70 I don't feel well.

| 10:00 this morning my blood sugar was 95 (fasting) 5:30 tonight it was 88 (just before we started cooking dinner) another good day on Atkins. When I was riding the bike I started having the fuzzy eyes but I came up and got a string cheese and it was fine in a few minutes. I'm glad I got the riding in early in the day because I don't think I could do it now, I'm just too tired....not enough sleep with mom being sick and my nerves bothering me....can't wait until Monday when everyone goes back to work and the fireworks stop!!
