| I am going to stop posting on this thread because the name is misleading -- I'm no longer "waiting to start" - I started 3 months ago!!!

| I wish more diabetics would come here and post. I know there are a lot of us because I keep reading "my name is [insert name] and I am a diabetic....I'm going to start trying to recuit more people to come here. I went back to induction because I had stopped losing after I had the virus in February. I was going through the rungs but not really losing anything, hoping something would start happening but it didn't. A few friends got me involved in a new group called Stallbusters and it worked. Reluctantly 2 weeks ago I went back to induction ... this morning I had lost 5 pounds -- WHOOOOOOPIE!!!!! Tomorrow morning (Sunday) I start the weigh/no weigh challenge and won't be on the scale for a week so I weighed this morning so I would know how I'd done. I was so happy to see 196 go away under my avatar - that has been staring at me for so long and I was ready to see it go away! My blood sugar numbers have been better since I started working out more. Since I figured out how to get the TV tray on my stationary bike I've been able to stay on more than 2 or 3 miles at a time....I ride 10 miles and feel like I could go further but I haven't so far. This coming week that is one of my goals - I want to try and go 12 to 15 miles each time. I'm biking every other day starting tomorrow (Sunday). If you are diabetic, please....come here and post - we have something in common that non-diabetics don't. We need encouragement and support also!

| Had a good day -- my fasting number was a little higher than normal 120 -- but I was up until 3:00 a.m. - mom couldn't sleep so I stayed up and talked to her until she felt she could go to sleep...then I was back up for good at 8:30 so I'm thinking that has something to do with the higher number. I had 2 scrambled eggs w/ham & small amount (1/2oz) of cheddar cheese & hot sauce, coffee & 30oz water for breakfast. Took pictures of my lunch and dinner plates so share. ![]() Lunch was egg salad (2 eggs, 1 slice kosher dill pickle & 1tsp Hellman's), 2oz raw cauliflower, 1oz raw zucchini and 4 sliced radishes and 1tsp ranch dressing - 30oz water to drink ![]() Dinner was chicken breast (fried in 1 tsp canola oil), 3oz broccoli, 1/2cup creamed turnips, salad w/ranch dressing coffee & 30oz water. After dinner I made a flax cookie and drank another 30oz of water while eating it. I am stuffed from everything I ate today. I remember watching my Uncle eat after he found out he had diabetes - he had such little amounts of food and said he was always hungry. I just wish Dr Atkins had been around when Uncle Bob was fighting this disease. I also believe he would have been on pills and not insulin because of the change in times. When I first heard the word diabetes come out of my doctors mouth I was concerned, but not as concerned as I had been 6 months before than when we found out mom was diabetic also. I researched everything I could find to help her, so when I found out I was diabetic also the fear wasn't there, just better informed of how to take care of myself. I wish I would have started Atkins when I found out about the diabetes, but since I wasn't ready to make this commitment to my health things might not have turned out as well as they have for me. I no longer fear diabetes, I have respect for it but not fear. Since I am a Type 2 there are still things I need to watch out for but I am still producing some insulin, unlike a Type 1 so that is to my advantage. I just need to keep on top of the diabetes until I can turn my body about and hopefully get off the medication.

| I had a great day today -- my fasting glucose was 99 and after a small dip in the morning (into the high 70's) my evening (5:00 p.m.) number was 99 again. I've never been under 100 for the entire day since I was diagnosed. It felt so good. I can usually tell when my glucose has gone down because I have foggy vision with it's in the high 70's and by the time it gets to the low 70's I have sweats and shakes. When the foggy vision started I tested then went and got something legal to eat and waited for it do improve -- it took about a half hour and I was fine again. Today was payday so after the bills were paid I went to the grocery stores. One of the stores had large stalks of celery and 16oz bags of radishes for 1.00 each -- so I bought 2 celery and 3 radishes. Anyone who knows me knows I'm the radish queen...I eat them everyday. I wonder if it's possible to OD on radishes...LOL! Anyway today was a good day - I hope to have a repeat tomorrow!!

| My glucose numbers the last 3 days have been faboulous! Tuesday fasting was 99 - evening 99. Yesterday (April 1) fasting 109 evening 99. Today fasting 96 - evening 104 and I had forgotten to take my meds in the morning! (I did take them at 5:00p.m. when I discovered I hadn't taken them). I'm starting to see my numbers staying at or just below 100 now and I'm so excited. This means that by losing weight I'm getting a grip on this. Whoooopie!! This morning I rode my bike 15 miles (non-stop) it took 1 hour and when I got done I felt real good - no aches and pains tonight so I really feel I'm getting use to riding. Since I put the table over the handlebars it's really made a difference and I'm able to stay on longer because I can read, have my water & remote and, if I need to get off I'm close to the bathroom. I tried Nathan's Beef Hot Dogs today - they were wonderful. I've never had them before but heard a few people on the board talking about them so I bought a package. They remind me of the hot dogs from when I was a kid and you would go to the butcher and buy 3 or 12 all together in a line. I took an ounce of cheddar cheese, cooked it in a skillet and wrapped it around the hot dog when it was hot so it made a little cheese shell and tasted really good! I also had radishes sliced and a salad w/ranch dressing for lunch. I wasn't hungry all afternoon!! I'm hoping to keep my blood glucose numbers low from here on out.
