I'm hesitant to talk about "curing" diabetes. From personal experience, I'm on glyburide and metformin, cutting carbs allows me to ease back on my medications and keep normal tests. A strong low carb diet is the only thing that works for me. I'd guess that things will improve as you lose weight and stay low carb. But, since I'm not a doctor, that's just my personal opinion. All the best in your efforts, Graeme

I don't think you can actually cure it, but you can reverse it's effects on your body by rewarding yourself with lower blood sugars and possibly (or very probably) being able to decrease or even cut out meds with the assistance of your physician. Best of all you may live a longer, healthier life if you can commit to this way of eating.

My endocrinologist told me diabetes cannot be "cured" - but you can get it to the point where it is considered "latent" which means: Medical Dictionary latent diabetes n. A mild form of diabetes mellitus in which the individual displays no overt symptoms, but has abnormal responses to various diagnostic tests. Also called chemical diabetes.
