| I also am type 2... I kept a journal from the start. My readings were always around 160 and higher, before meds around 245. They slowly went down and by day 9 my blood sugar readings were below 115 and never went up. I have been on Atkins for one month now. I did stop one evening pill otherwise my morning readings were too low. Glyburide 2.5 Good luck, low carbs is the way to go to get your blood sugar under control.

| Definitely stick with this. My BG was 373 when I checked it twelve days ago. Now it's in the 100-130 range. I've lost 12 pounds, too. It works and it's livable. High-carb will only lead to medication and diabetic complications, even death. 373 scared me straight. I'm on LC for life. My life. My kids lives. You can do this! Choose life!! HUGS!!

YOU CAN DO IT! I too, tried Atkins, before I was a diabetic and failed. But now you are dealing with a serious diagnosis. The great part, is that you can prevent diabetic complications with your diet. That has always kept me in check. And focus on the foods that you love not those that you miss!!! I have been doing it for almost a year now! My fasting glucose was 305, is now 96. A1c was 9%, now is 5.8%, cholesterol was out of whack and now is perfect!!!! |

| You can do this John -- follow the plan the way it's written....not the way you'd like to eat (no cheating). The diabetic meds can slow down weight loss so if you are on any diabetic meds keep that in mind, that's why it is more important for us to stick to the plan. Make sure you drink your water (64 ounces pure water daily), take a multivitamin and start exercising. Good luck to you -- if you need anything let me know.
