| maybe the only counseling you needed was to rid your body of the bad carbs. i think many of us can relate to your addiction. i mean, none of us came to the adbb and to atkins because we were skinny. i remeber all through childhood that mom kept the cookies and bread in one of the kitchen drawers. mom would often be resting when we came in from school and of course, we would try to snatch a cookie or two or three, or ten before getting changed into play clothes. problem was, that durn drawer had the most horrid sqeek when you tried to open it and mom was a very light sleeper. i realize now why mom never oiled that stupid drawer. LOL

| Hi, I would forgo the counseling for now. I can tell similar stories to yours and can totally relate to what you are saying. After 14 months of low carb, this problem has gone away for me. If I stay away from carbs, I am not tempted to sneak food or binge eat. Careful though, the few times I went off plan the old demons came back in full force. In my experience the sneaking and binging was a side effect from the impact carbs where having on my insulin levels not an emotional problem that I needed therapy for. It is a huge relief knowing that by sticking to a low carb lifestyle I don't ever have to go back to that kind of behaviour again. Val Val

| I agree also. While I think that counseling is never a bad thing, you might just not need it. I mean, I don't have my book handy, but I know Dr. Atkins talks about the carb *addiction*. IF you have kicked that addiction, maybe that is the *only* addiction you had. Not sure if that makes sense.

| I agree with Valcan, the demons do come back when you go off plan. To me that says you are not the one compelled, your body is and its caused by the swings of your blood sugar. I have such a similar story to yours. I'd eat fast food on the way home, hide the wrappers go in cook a huge carby dinner and eat again. Snack all day long, think about food all day long. Now i watch others do that, at work. They snack and eat and complain about thier fatness. That all goes away with this WOE, I'm at a point of forcing myself to eat most days. When i do eat, its good healthy real food. This way of life is freeing. Move within its rules and you will find that freedom.
