    Default Motivation to exercise...help?

I have all the equipment I need...treadmill, ball, weights and a mat. I have my own music mix too. I always feel great after exercising...I just don't know why I don't feel motivated enough to start.

    Any suggestions?

I find that going to bodybuilders.com and reading a bunch of the articles always gets me to do a workout I don't want to do. There's always something in one of the articles that gets me intrigued and wanting to try it out. Once I get started I'm golden. Good luck!!

Is your treadmill in front of a tv? I watch tv while walking. It is a treat to be able to watch my shows, but I try not to just sit and watch. If you have netflix to boot, you can treat yourself to movies and tv shows you want to watch, commercial free and in order.

(The following is a Public Service Announcement to get Lisa Motivated to Move!!!)

    LISA, LISA, LISA,

You have come this far already, so what do you need to get off that comfy couch???

How about I PM you every day to get moving. I am the same way, I HATE to start, but once I get going I am so happy. At least you have a treadmill at home, I have to go to the club 6 miles away to get on my friend the elliptical.
So I tell my self..."Mary, get the BIG BUTT up and move, you're not getting any younger, and you won't get any smaller until you MOVE!!!"

Turn on the TV, watch Rachel, Paula Deen, oh wait STOP, they have cooking shows!!! OK How about Oprah, the VIEW, Watch Martha Stewart twist grape vines into a coffee table...

Remember what I said to you all on New Year's EVE...No! not Happy New Year...well, Yes, I did say that but what I really mean is...

    "WE CAN DO THIS THING!"

(you just have to help a little...NOW GET MOVING!!!)

You have to be like Nike and just do it!! ;-)

Start small. Once you get going, if you are anything like me... you will just keep going.

reward yourself with nonfood items for just doing a few minutes right now. as time goes on increase the amount of exercise you got to do just to get the rewards.

you could use your ADBB time as your reward no exercise no reading nor posting.

try adding free exercise like parking far away from the door using the stairs putting the laundry up one item ata time, march inplace while you cook and clean up
there are so many free ways to exercise.

you do know that fro weight loss you can bust up your exercise into small 10 min sessions and be the same as one long session of the same total time?

That sounds good to me...it is definitely rewarding to post my comments in my journal

Barbde, I agree that starting small is the key. I did just that at my SIL's place on Thursday. Nothing strenuous, but my arms are sore so that's a good start!

Mary, thanks for your motivation...you're awesome! That's a good idea, to remind myself that I won't get any smaller unless I start movin it!

Cleo, I wish I had a TV in the workout room...but you know what, I am saving up for a small one to put there so I can do my workout DVDs! I just got the Billy Blanks balance ball workout (DVD workout & ball) which I think will be great. Thing is...DH is glued to TV and his new PS3. Gonna have to kick him off for an hour each day....

Penelo, I used to subscribe to a fitness magazine...maybe it's time to resubscribe! Reading through those kind of put you in the mindset of being healthy

When you get it in your mind, just kind of start moving your limbs around in a cool way. Sometimes we balk even if equipment is accessible like "bleh I don't want to go downstairs, or into some room, or to have to go pick up some weight" but moving our limbs through space can be done instantly without worrying about where you are (except that don't smack your hand into a wall or refrigerator, this is a mistake I make a lot, very painful) and it gets the circulation going and makes you feel cool and keeps your mind on the movement and away from distractions that would pull you into the exercise.

Basically the synovial fluid will lubricate the joints and the pulse slightly elevated, it is calisthenic aerobics which are always nice. Then, in a relaxed manner continue to do them as you march or wobble or hobble over to wherever it is you have planned to exercise at.

Turning on some metal (I like 'fury of the storm' by dragonforce) is another way to feel excited. Swinging around a nerf sword is also a good way, pretend you are battling space aliens.
