Mitzi - we should have an exchange. In the summer you come here to run and in the winter I come there to run. I am going to visit my in-laws in a nabouring province in a couple of weeks and I am really looking forward to run there. Running in new places sounds fun to me now. I will be thinking about you today Mitz. Hope everything goes well.

Paul - how are things? Are you feeling OK?

Quo - You are the bomb. A new job and new boyfriend (that climbs) and you ran an hour. It is so great to hear all this positive news. If it was me I would probably just keep adding to that last run for the next two weeks. I hour and 5 minutes and perhaps I hour and 15 the last one. But it would depend a bit on what is the next stage in your training program is like. Are you going to follow a particular program? I will be aiming for 10 K next - it will take me over an hour and a half at current speed.

I am running tomorrow. I have been taking two days off after my long run. I realized the other day when shopping that I am now size 8 in pants (I was 16-18 ) It is really interesting because last time I weighed this much (or little ) -130- I wore a larger size - more like 11-12. This exercise business - really makes a difference.

Stiff as a board today. It's funny how it takes a couple days to catch up! Really wanted to run, but wasn't up to it. Did walk for a while though to stretch.

Paul, I'll bet your stiff from both your first run the other day and the car accident. You are wise not to push it - you could hurt yourself more, and it would take even longer to get back into the groove. I think it's a great idea to walk to stretch... that should really help.

Quo, you're so funny. Your "confessions" would be a great week for me! Only 3 runs in a week!! And don't sweat the fact that you only got 2 P90's in... that is plenty enough to at least maintain your strength, so at least you haven't "stepped backwards", so to speak. I still think you're superwoman.

Liv, I think it would be so cool to visit a new place. I was born in, raised in, and have never lived anywhere else except Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I've led a sheltered life. Hey, congrats on fitting into a size 8! Exercise really does make a difference, and this is a perfect illustration of how the number on the scale does NOT tell the whole story. Yay, you!

OK, my stuff - I was going to run today, but didn't manage to do it. I was exhausted because Barry had trouble sleeping last night, and that woke me up several times. I also had some important errands that needed to be done this morning, and if I don't get to the track in the morning, it is pretty much shot for the day. I did get in a 40 minute ab workout and about 20 minutes of upper body work, though. My ultrasound is scheduled for 9:30 tomorrow morning, and the consult appt with the doc is at 10:25. I'll fill y'all in when I know something.

Have a great rest of the week!

OHR D1W3
I ran. May not have warmed up properly today. My calf muscle started to hurt a bit and I can still feel it (just a minor thing when I step on it but it is there). I did some stretches afterwards. I hope they helped.

Back on the treadmill today! Felt really good, my neck still has a tiny twinge I can't seem to stretch out but I'll get there. So consider this D1W1 for me again .

Hi, Everybody

Liv and Quo, I appreciate your thoughts today.

Beware Paul - a little female banter about to happen.

The appointment went well. The particular cyst that he was watching on my ovary has actually shrunk in the past 2 weeks, and since the cancer screening came back negative, he is just going to have me come back in 6 months for another ultrasound, just to keep an eye on things. He did give me the option, though, of having a complete hysterectomy at any point that I am tired of living with the pain caused by the endometriosis in my uterus, so the ball is in my court with that. That would take care of my pain, and get rid of the ovary concerns. I'm going to tough it out a little longer, but will probably go through with it at some point. We'll see.

Liv, I don't do a warm up per say. I find I run a lot better if I just run lower than normal for the first mile and then stretch afterward. I can't stretch before running at all without ending up hurt pretty much.

Paul, great job getting back on the treadmill. Hope you finish healing soon.

Mitzie, aren't there any other therapies for the endrometriosis?!?!?!?! That just sounds so... scary. How do you feel about it?

Running: Last night a ran for an hour again while talking on the phone. It was a smooth easy run and I could have done another 1 or 2 easily but didn't and won't. My goal in the short term is to build a strong base of 25 miles a week before I have to start the marathon training program mid october. So if I can get up to an hour for each of my runs and maybe 5 days a week or fewer days an one longer run. I'm just going to see what feels more comfortable. I just want to be strong enough not to get hurt without waiting another year to do this. We'll see... I'm going to go carefully and really listen to my body. If it looks like I may get hurt I'll drop back to a half marathon in March. But I don't think I'll have to. Over 5 miles ran... just multiply that a couple times and you got 25

Well, Quo... There are other alternatives, but they are only a temporary measure... that stuff grows back. He's already "cleaned up" the endo once, back in 2001, when I had my tubes tied. The alternatives are usually used on younger woman who are trying to preserve their ability to have children. At my age, the doc is willing to just pull everything... especially since my uterus is enlarged to the point that I experience pain, and I have cysts on both ovaries. I have no problem with yanking it all, other than I don't like how long I would be down or how much it would cost (I have a $5000 deductible to satisy before insurance will kick in). I'm thinking of going ahead and having it done at some point in 2008, though, since I have already satisfied $1500 worth of the deductible for this year... that would mean I would have to come up with $3500. If I wait until the new calender year, I will have to come up with the whole $5000. I know it's a stupid factor to consider, but it's there nonetheless.

Sorry, Paul!

Ran 3.3 miles today, in a little over 35 minutes.

For a warmup, I walk 3 laps briskly before starting my run. I stretch thoroughly for about 15 minutes after I'm finished. I have become so much more flexible since doing this! Love it.

Mitz - so glad everything went well at the doctor's. Hopefully you can get that pain dealt with as well when you are ready.

I have not run guys. I am waiting for that pain in my calf to subside. I can barely feel it now - except a tinge when I walk down stairs. But I do not want to push anything. It is not like I have a race to go to next week. I will try to run again this weekend. Been doing some slow biking as that seems fine and some upper body work. Hopefully I will be running again soon or by biceps will be too big from all this weightlifting.
