| Okay, I now have proof that something has fundamentally changed within me this year that goes beyond diet, being a non-smoker and thriving after assault. My week was %$!@ and before I would have curled up in a ball. I would have looked at my weekend potato salad and birthday cake binge that was supposed to be a one day controlled event. I would have looked at the relationship confusion and cried and slept all day. Instead, I ran my first truly long run. It wasn't smart and I'll have to run much less distance during the week. I'm going to go ice my knees as a precaution but I just finished 9 miles. I ran it and feel better and can't wait to run again.

| Sorry to hear about your troubles Quo. Darn it all! Nine miles is very impressive. I have run 10K a few times that is about 6 miles and that really takes everything out of me. It is definitely as far as I can go now. Hope your body will be be good. Running sure is a nice wind down. I

| How are you doing running buddies? So far I have been running 5 K every other day. I am thinking I need to take advantage of the OHR and run one hour at least one day here and there. Maybe next time (which is Sunday) Did you get your gamut - gamit yet Quo?

| Hi liv, no job; no garmin *grumbles* I started looking online and found like a gazillian trails!!! OMG! I can't even express how amazing todays run was. I ended up at china camp state park. I spoke with a ranger for a second to plan where I would run, grabbed a map and promptly ran into a super friendly trailrunner with some good information. With a deep breath and a good chuckle, off I went. 5.5 miles of gorgeous rolling trails. It was so remote I ran right next to deer and they didn't even move! The Turkeys were foraging and every time I heard a lizard I swore a rattler was coming to get me. Well maintained with few obstacles and the poison oak wasn't running after me. I tripped over a root but didn't rip my pants or skin or anything. The trail was so rolling I almost didn't realize just how many hills there were. Instead of one big hill, it was a bunch of little knolls so I would go up and then get a long break before going up again. I did get a slight headache from lack of salt in the high noon heat so I trudged along drinking my water, sucking on my arm and praying for a salt lick. Looking out over the bay made the headache not that bad. I think it's time for me to look into electrolyte replacements since my runs are getting longer. After the 5.5 miles of trail I ran on the road another 3 miles back to the car. I passed China Camp which was the old chinese fishing village from the... 1800's. I ran with my empty water bottle slightly paniced and as I reached China Camp some cyclists pointed me to a huge spigot. I was so happy; I developed the afro air conditioning system. By soaking my hair I stayed cool for about 20 minutes lol. The run was amazing and I tried to take pictures but the sun wouldn't work with me and white everything out. But man, I can't stop smiling.

| Quo - hope you can get that new job soon Mitzi - hope you are recovering from the hurricane. I read in Sherri's journal that you were doing fine. That was great to see I am just letting you guys know that I still run regularly. At least 3 times a week. Today I ran another 10K. It is tiring but remarkable easier now than first time I tried it. Running 10 k was one of my goals of my running this year. My 5k is not getting much faster but I love getting into the zone when running.

| Hi, Liv and Quo ![]() Sorry I haven't been checking in like I should be. Yes, Liv, I'm recovering nicely from Hurrican Gustav. I've have electricity for a couple of days now! My poor inlaws are on Day 9 with none. They live less than 5 miles from me, so I feel quite fortunate to have it.Quo, I hope that your job woes work out soon. Any news on that front? I must say, I was super-impressed with your enthusiasm in your last post... the fact that you are able to remain upbeat under difficult circumstances is very inspiring. Keep on smiling! OK, running - Unfortunately, I haven't been able to be consistent with it. I do get in 1 or 2 runs a week, but with power still out around the city, I'm not able to drive across town to the indoor track. So I'm at the mercy of the weather, running in my neighborhood. Gosh, it's just too hot and muggy on most days. Come on autumn!!! I haven't let that sidetrack me from exercise, though! I'm currently on Day 4 of a 30 day commitment to do something everyday (baby steps, you know?). This morning, I did this: Completed the Billy Blanks Advanced Tae Bo workout (57 minutes and KILLER!) Completed the 10-Minute Fast-Track Workout for Dummies Completed the 14 minute Slim & Limber cool-down/stretch Oooooweeeee! That advanced Tae Bo was bad-a$$! I was dripping with sweat... even more than from running outdoors... and I'm sore already. Liv, I can't be believe you're able to run a 10K! Wow!! What an accomplishment. You rock! Take care, my buddies. |

| Still no job. But I just recovered from tendonitis and was super proud of myself for stopping when I needed and getting it healed before the marathon training program started. I have three weeks before I start doing this thing and just can't wait. I love you both so much. Now that we feel like runners perhaps we should move to the coolrunning thread? They are just so scary over there though

| That sounds like a plan - I am a little intimidated when I read 11 miles in or something like that. But .... I joined the mileage challenge so that I could be accountable and run every other day. That has worked out.
