Default Cool Running (or summer warfare) for the week of June 1, 2008

I hesitate to call this thread COOL running these days ... but for those of us summer warriors who brave the heat/humidity to get those endorphins flowing .... this is for YOU !

Sunday, June 1: 8 miles early this morning. Heat/humidity unbelievable. 20.2 miles this weekend, and I'm pooped.

Actually heat is really good for running. You are less prone for injury.

Also ... I started a new Social Group for running ... you should join it.

What do you usually run 5ks ?

Heat is good for something, eh Tom? Glad to know that. I'll try and remember that when I'm sweating bullets like I was today!

One word to those who run in extreme heat/humidity as I do: invest in some good electrolyte replacement and also consider taking leg cramp pills .. I got some at Walmart which have been a lifesaver. I used to get killer cramps in my calves after a sweaty run .. no more.

5K time is right around 29-30 minutes ... hey I'm 52, give me a break! My speed days are well behind me .. now my goal is to outlive my competition !

Maybe you should rename the thread. Roasted running or Cooked running

Yeah the cramps are from either dehydration or lack of potasium.

I keep forgetting to post! Works getting in the way

Monday: 2.2 Miles

Tues: 2.5 miles

It's getting warmer out and that's affecting how far i'm running I noticed, still running on my treadmill but the room gets hot quick even with the window open..not hot enough for a/c yet either

I will start running on the boardwalk once it gets really hot (and it's coming..96 on friday)..I don't really have good places other than there to run around here aside from the streets, not crazy about that with the dog..or running on concrete and it's not very scenic

Does running in the heat burn more calories? i'm thinking because you sweat so much it would...

Running in the heat....feel the burn....WEAR YOUR SUNSCREEN!!!!!

Ran 2 miles yesterday...and rode bike to the track so rode a bike roughly 2.5 miles.

I hope to get back to 4 miles a day like i used to!

Summer in Houston.....UGH!
