| Been forgetting to post here .. but have been keeping up with the arms/abs work. DH helps me to get down off the floor as its pretty much impossible on my own with this cast on my foot/leg. The past week, I've been working the upper body/abs pretty hard. 20 reps, 3 sessions with the 8 pound dumbbells, and 20 tricep extensions also. For abs work, I'm up to a minimum of 60 reverse crunches per session. One of these days I hope to get back on my stability ball and really start cranking up the "core". Marathon training begins end of October (praying my foot will be totally healed by then !) Betty

| For years I was an addicted runner, 4-6 miles per day. I just loved it, it was my most funnest thing in life. One day after my run, I got out of the shower, got dressed, and as I stood up from putting my shoes on, one of my legs stayed bent, it was stuck in that position. Scared the bejeesus out of me. Took some coaxing and pain to get it to straighten. Long story short, after three knee surgeries on both knees, my ortho doc looked me straight in the eye and said, "No more running!" (I had a mix of congenitally bad knees and ran the cartiledge out of them til they are bone-on-bone basically, what got my knee stuck that day was a bone fragment). I was depressed about not getting to run for a long time afterward, and still long to run. In my meditation time, I'm always out there running free, long, and feeling the rhythm and zen in my body. Ahhhh... Anyhoo, there's plenty of other things to do, swim (I not only swim but do water resistance exercises in the pool), bike, careful walking (I walk a mile a day now), weights, shooting hoops in the driveway, bouncing a tennis ball off of walls and things and catching it, etc. Last year I discovered the Wii and the games are good fun exercise, swinging that remote and numchuk around like crazy. (((I don't mean my knee story as a downer, so please don't take it that way. My doc said that with the misplaced tendons in my knees making the bones join at a very slight angle, I never should have taken up running in the first place. Or if I did do some running, that I shouldn't have been quite so excessive about it, lol. I'm sure people with healthy, normal knees are fine running.))) Keep up the good work! GBM
