For an easy exercise, one idea would be to play with your child or take him/her (?) out in the park.
But fast exercises... Let's see... Running is quite fast. I guess you don't have an elliptical or something similar home and going to the gym is not "fast", but maybe it would worth buying some weights. Hula hooping and skipping are also fast. You can also do other exercises home, depends on you how much time you have for them (you can google 'home exercises' for ideas).

I sometimes do a Tae-Bo workout when my two are napping (age 2 and 3.5 yrs). It takes 45 mins and is very effective. x

When I started to run I could do 20 seconds but that I all I needed to do for the Coach to 5K programmme
How about incorporating some play and exercises. You can squat to jumping jacks and pushups all while playing with your girl. Weights would be great to have around too for some exercises.
I started with this video on you tube for weights
YouTube - 10 min pilates sclupting-full
And then you could learn some stretches/yoga poses for those floor moments - while watching TV for instance.

I'm almost in the same situation as you. I have a 10 month old who naps, but it seems like whenever I start using my elliptical or try to exercise at home at all, she does not want to sleep! I opted for a gym that has day care and it is a lifesaver! I even bring my oldest daughter (she's 6yrs.) with me on the weekends. I go 5 days a week in the mornings. If the kids are not sick during the 2 off days and the weather permits, I go for walks outside. If the weather isn't so good, I go to the mall and then I can also window shop or do some shopping while I'm there!
Of course, there's also the basic "floor exercises" that you can do while sitting next to your baby on the floor.... leg lifts, sit ups, push ups, squats, etc. And while cooking you could raise up on your tippy toes to tone your calves. And for a tighter tush, squeeze your tushy together.
For resistance training, I suggest a set of dumbbells. I have a set of vinyl dumbbells ranging from 2lbs. to 30lbs. and they are great! There are plenty of effective exercises to do with these to tone up your arms and it only takes a few minutes to do these exercises.
Good Luck!

I would suggest doing HIIT - High Intensity Interval Training. In 15 or 20 minutes, you get the same benefit of working out for an hour.
The only thing is, it's not a good idea to use a treadmill for this (it can be dangerous to change speeds so much), so you either need a place to run, a stationary bike, or an elliptical machine to use. If you don't have any of that stuff, you can use a jumprope, too.
If that's not an option, I suggest this Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred video. You don't need any special equipment, it's a really great workout, and each workout is only 20 minutes. It works on strength, cardio, and abs, and it's a real ball-buster!

I read an article in men's Fitness that claimed short intense workouts were more effective at raising metabolism than say jogging for 45. Here are some ideas that can all be done at home.
bench step-ups. Just step up and alternate legs. You can use a chair, just make sure it is a sturdy one. Increase the intensity by holding dumbbells.
Lunges. Same thing, use weight to increase intensity.
Burpees or squat-thrusts. No equipment required and these will get your heart beat up fast. If you don't know them, google or start standing, put your hands on the floor, throw your feet back behind you, do a push up, then pop back to standing.
Run in place. You can get ankle weights to make it harder. If you lift your knees to horizontal, it is plenty challenging.
I used to have this little paper back book Royal canadian Air Force exercise Plan
Amazon.com: Royal Canadian Air Force Exercise Plans for Physical Fitness: Royal canadian Airforce: Books
Looks like it is out of print but try to find it. It has a very quick (like 13 minute) complete workout that requires aero equipment. It is very structured. You start out very easy but each day you add reps to about five exercises. It has charts that tell you how many reps to do each day. It gets very challenging after a few weeks.
Jogging is fast. if you were to chose the fastest workout then choose jogging. it works effectively on me..at least!!

my grandmother used to tell me of a study that was once conducted. they took an olympic athlete and a two year old child.....and the athlete had to mimic every movement, everything.....that the two year old did for a 24 hour period. and she further went on to state that.....at the end of that 24 hour period, the olympic athlete was exhausted.
so, if you have a 19-month old child.....and you need a workout......simply try doing everything that he does.....exactly as he does it.
i have a nine month old and he can put his feet in his mouth for a lengthy period of time, and generally does. try doing that!!
