Default Exercising regimen... is this enough?

Just how long (minutes) and how many days do you exercise a week?

I am doing this kick-butt DVD (30-day Shred with Jillian Michaels from "The Biggest Loser") and also doing high/low impact aerobics for 45 min 3x/week.
Is this enough?

The DVD is a 20 minute workout- and it kick my BUTT.

I love the Shred workouts, but they are exhausting! And I would say 45 minutes three times a week is fine, although if you have time, try to do a day more.

It varies for everyone. I would say that is enough to see results and build fitness, but trying a range and adding perhaps another day (even just walking) would help even more.

Lots of people on this board have started with far less that you are doing and gone on to get addicted to exercise and try loads of kinds - me included!

I go to the gym 5 mornings a week. A do a mixture of cardio (step, running, cross trainer, bike) and toning exercises. Is this enough? I try to mix everything up so I don't get bored. Is this alright?

I go to the gym 5 mornings a week. The week consists of cardio and toning classe which last for 30 mins or 45 mins.Cardio includes step, bike, running, cross trainer, and TBC.["total body conditioning" This class includes toning exercises. The other classes are for all the bits that wobble but shouldn't!!! I would arrive at the gym about 9.30 and leave about 11.30 so that is about 2 hours. I really enjoy going. I am addicted also to sport. I would love to have more time and money to try all different kinds of sport away from the normal stuff....

I think the Shred is an exercise video by this personal trainer (Jillian Michaels) on a reality show called the Biggest Loser. I don't know if you are familiar with it. I have never tried it.

Jillian Michaels: 30 Day Shred: Andrea Ambandos, Jillian Michaels: Amazon.ca: DVD

Is it a interesting question what is enough? Enough for what? Weightloss, strength, power, speed, health? What is it you are hoping to do?

hi,
I've seen her web site. I'm not really into exercise dvd's but if it works for some people then that's great.
Enough for weight loss inch loss and health. I have also stopped smoking on new year's day and so far so good. I really do notice a big difference at the gym. It's great. I think my problem is trying to get into the carb counting thing.

I am not a big believer in exercise for weightloss. The key to weightloss is what you eat or do not eat (rather). But exercise will improve metabolism that assist in losing weight and it will help you keep off the weight because you will be a better "burner"

If you want health you need to do cardio. I think 30-40 minutes with a good heart rate at least. What do you do for cardio?

Inches you will definitely lose with exercise. I cannot believe how much smaller I am know compared to what I was about 20 years ago when I last weight this much. I am about 4-6 sizes smaller because I work out. I really think the key is weightlifting and other strength training (like yoga or pilates). You need to really push it. No baby weights. I don't know about your toning classes but I find the ones around here a bit wimpy. They kind of work more on doing this fast and getting a heart rate than the strength part of it. Not for me.

And Nat to post your ticker you need to copy the BBS code not the html one.
