How would the Atkins diet affect my running performance? Will I run in to any issues? I can't get over the fact that your body needs carbs when running. When it comes to running all I hear is Carb, Carb, carb...
I'd really appreciate if you can shed some light, point me in the right direction(books, websites etc) and if you a marathon runner please tell me how atkins is working out for you. Thank you in advance. |
i'm no expert, but as far as i know, the body needs protein and carbs in order to repair torn muscles, and build them up.
a marathon is very intense. you will need to build those muscles. if you are ony taking in protein, then you will simply burn fat,and whatevers left, your body will just get rid of it,usualy in your pee.
not to mention that you most probably will feel realy tired after just a few miles, where your body just isnt gettting enough fuel.
sometimes you might even feel sick.
before i put on this excess weight,i used to over do it sometimes with my aeroics. and if i hadnt had enough carbs before doing my workouts,i would feel terrily sick and faint. my friend who is a fitness trainer, told me its kinda the bodys way of telling you to stop.
