| Well you have to remember that they burn carbs for energy, and when you eat low carb you burn fat for energy.. so they stock up on the carbs so they have more carbs to burn ... Just do what you can and go at your own speed .. if you have to fall back a bit so what ... its not the end of the world I bet you will do great |

| I just did a century ride (100 miles) this past weekend. I had just finished 4 weeks of induction. It is sometimes called the cookie century, because the rest stops have loads of homemade cookies of every type. I did have a couple and a bananna the day of the ride and it didn't kill me. I didn't let it bother me. Hey I was riding a bicycle 100 miles. Its now 3 days later and I am still down 4 pounds since last week before the ride. |

| Hey Jake, I do a lot of road biking. 40 to 80 mile rides regularly on the weekends. How tired you are going to feel really just depends on how much training you have done. It sounds like you get a lot of cardio, which will help, but if that didn't include bicycling then realize that those muscles are going to get quite a workout. As far as energy levels go I think we have an advantage that the carb loaders don't. I've never bonked, even at 100+ miles, even when I'm really pushing myself. I think it's because our energy source is more stable and doesn't get those highs and lows that people on carbs do. Just my theory. My suggestion would be to bring plenty of water, of course, which will be more of a problem for you then for me as you are probably going to be out in the middle of no where. Also, bring a healthy Atkins lunch and a snack. Typically for a snack I'll bring a nice hunk of beef jerky or something like that that I can stick in my pocket, and a bag of berries. I'll alternate between the two and take a couple bites every 20 minutes/half hour or so, even if I'm not hungry, just to make sure I have a steady source of energy coming in. It's worked well for me so far. Good luck and have fun!

| Way to go Jake. Thanks for the update. Sounds like you had a wonderful time. Sounds like you may have lost some electrolytes perhaps - normal with long periods of exercise. Gongratulations with 102.
