Before to Current Photos

In the interest of keeping myself motivated, I decided to post a "Before vs. Current" photo of myself - Before was taken Summer of 2011 - I was probaby at least 300 lbs when it was taken. Current photo was taken about a month ago - I was all dressed up for work, and I was happy with how I looked that day. I have since lost a couple of more pounds, but they aren't noticable overall just yet - my knees are getting thinner....
If you are considering doing Atkins...

Hi everybody,

I just wanted to post a little message to anyone who might be researching the possibility of doing Atkins and is not yet convinced of its benefits. I should preface this by saying that at this stage (day 9 of induction) I'm still very much a rookie at all this - I have a loooong way to go until this conscious life decision becomes a way of life, but I wanted to share my experience so far.

That said, I am completely sold on this. Like so many people on these boards I have tried so many different diets before, my weight has yo-yod massively over the years but I never managed to maintain a healthy weight or diet without feeling hungry, resentful and exhausted. Please believe me when I say that Atkins is

How can you lose weight?

How can you lose weight? If dieting were easy many people would already be thinner. To lose weight there is some level of discipline needed and to some extent some sacrifice.

To start out weight loss is about burning off more calories than your body consumes. When broken down like this it is very easy problem. Eat fewer calories and exercise more. However this is sometimes easier said than done. There are low calorie diets that without a doubt will work in the short term and these diets can even work for people over the long term but for many it is just too much to go around hungry all day. Also when counting calories, which is what these types of diets boil down to it takes lots of focus on making sure not only that you are not consuming

What is Atkins?

Summary of what the Atkins Diet is:
The Atkins Diet is a low carbohydrate lifestyle, in fact it was the first low carb weight loss program. The plan is based on Dr Atkins' observations that the type of food we consume is just as important (in fact, even more so) than the quantity of food. The first two weeks is called the Induction phase in which you limit your carb intake to 20 grams a day, eating only allowed foods that include mostly proteins, fats and low-glycemic vegetables. This will help you break any carb addiction and usually result in a loss of 5 to 10% on the total weight loss desired. Later on in the diet's phases you add carbs back into your diet

Peanut Butter Fudge

I was looking for a change of pace today, so I started surfing, and came across peanut butter fudge on Linda's Low Carb Recipes . Since I had all the ingredients, and it looked easy enough that I couldn't screw it up, I whipped up a batch, and am I glad I did!

This is NOT Induction friendly, but if you can have nuts, it's a great treat. With my ingredients (and using liquid Splenda), I got 15.58 grams of net carbs for the entire thing, or 1.3 grams (net) for each slice.
