Hello guys!
I am new here and especially I am new with exercise.
I joined a gym 5 weeks ago but I am not pretty much sure of what I'm doing.

I weight 77.7 kg now, am 165cm tall and I hit the gym 5 times a week. In 20 days I skipped 3. I do not do any exercise on saturdays and sundays.

At the moment my workout is as follows:

Strength: pectoral machine 10 kg 3sets 20reps
INNER/OUTER THIGH 30kg 3 sets 20reps ( too much? but my muscles don t get sore much...)
LAT PULLDOWN 20 kg 3 sets 15 reps
GLUTEUS (? the one for your butt) 20 kg 3 sets 15 reps
Upper Abs (no machine) 3 sets 20 reps
Lower Abs (no machine) 3 sets 20 reps (:bang: this REALLY hurts)
Lateral abs 3minutes with 3kg dumbells
Squats ( I hold myself to a rack that is there) 3 sets 15 reps

The whole things isn t too exhausting except for abs and squats. It takes me 30 minutes to get it all done.

Cardio : 30 minutes walking ( on the treadmill):running:
20 minutes stepper
10 minutes stationary bike

My week goes like this:

Mon : Cardio & Strength
Tue: Cardio
Wed: Cardio & Strenght
Thur: Cardio
Fri: Cardio & Strenght

Since I have no experience whatsoever ( besides 1 month of gym 2 years ago) I am wondering whether I am doing too much or too little or not often enough. Also, is my strength training missing something? After one month I haven t noticed significant change in shape or proportion or volume...cm also stay the same.

Enlighten me!

I've been trying to read some threads before I posted, but alot say peanut butter -
but, since I'm on Day 5 of Induction, doesn't apply.

I need to hit the gym :running: at 5:30 a.m. (time management) - before Atkins, i wouldn't eat b4 the gym, but I can't do that know... I'm SO hungry when i get up - i have to eat something.

What would you suggest? Is there something I can drink :Drinkin: rather than eat (besides water, which i drink the entire time at gym). And then do I eat immediately after workout - i usually wouldn't eat until i was in work - 3 hours later.

THanks for all your help.

Hi all. This is my first post here. I am in day 7 of induction and in ketosis. I am also a runner and have worked my way up (from nothing) to doing 3-5 miles at about an 10-11 min pace per mile. I'd like to eventually work up to a half-marathon.

I am reading all sorts of conflicting information (on the web) about ketosis and running. So, here are my questions that I hope someone can help me with..and if you have references, I would appreciate those, too.

1. Isn't the running term "hitting a wall" when someone runs out of their glycogen stores in a marathon or longer race...everything I read says that person should be very fatigued if that happens...barely able to move. But...isn't this the same as crossing into ketosis? So far when I have run in Ketosis (thursday and saturday this week) I did not really notice anything too different in how I felt.

2. Is there a point....during a long run while in ketosis....that one should absolutely consume some carbs or protein or something? Details...pretty please!

3. Before I started induction I had been eating an average of 100 net carbs a day for about 7 months. So...is it likely that every time I ran I was going into ketosis already....over the past 7 months?

THANK YOU SO MUCH for any help you can provide. I really am trying to wrap my brain around all of this. I have been feeling pretty darn good so far and want to make sure I am proceeding correctly in my exercise.

Exercise and inflammation

I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I've noticed that while I am exercising, I tend to get a little bloated. Yesterday I did a ton of yardwork, and that was the first exercise I had in several months (I'm on induction now -- trying to get it all together), and I swelled up. I tried to push the water even better than usual because I was so hot.

It could be a total coincidence, but I didn't lose too much weight yesterday despite all the exercise, and being very strict about my food. Maybe I didn't eat enough?

I'm not sure what I'm asking -- except if there's a way to prevent that effect of exercise, or maybe if it's a good thing?

Thanks!
