I have alway been a fan of the Atkins and had great success with this a few years ago. After having my baby daughter nearly 12 months ago, I have had real trouble trying to los the last 8 pounds. I have been on the atkins diet for the last 5 days, the ketose sticks are purple and yet to my horror I have gained two pounds?
My diet has been eggs, scambled for breakfast, a couple of onz of cheese throught out the day, lunch to be chicken breast, dinner to be fish or prawn cocktail, I have had cream in my coffee, although measured the amount and had been using 2 sweetener( sweetex) in each coffee( prob 5 coffees per day?:rottentom:redsnoopy

Hello there, nice to meet you.
My name is Tere and I am from Italy, specifically from sunny Naples.
I weight 77.7 kg now and I aim to get down to 60 in 2010.
This is my first time on the atkins diet, but without knowing I had already been following a sort of low carb diet prescripted from my doctor last year. At that time I felt great, but I decided not to go back to the same doctor and diet and choose atkins because I had been given some appetite suppressants, that I hope I won t need this time. My mother has type II diabetes, and I am determined not to go down the same road, I live with her and being both on a diet I find it is not that difficoult to stick to the program while I am at home. It s a different story when going to aunt's house though.
Oh, and I feel hungry all the time.
I am on day 4 of induction now, and I have been reading the forum for quite a while before deciding to jump in.

So, I am determined to see this through and I thank you in advance for your support

Hello everyone!

I restarted Atkins Induction on 9-22-09. Years ago I did this and lost quite a bit. I have regained about 50+ pounds and desperately want to get it off. I'm 61 and am recovering from surgery, so my exercise has been limited to walking in short periods of 10 minutes at a time several times a day.

I lost 10 pounds on induction. Then nothing for a couple of weeks. Got impatient and tried replacing two meals a day with shakes. Well, it did work temporarily and I lost another 4 pounds quickly, but then everything stopped again. (of course it did -- I wasn't following the plan!)

I wanted to join this board because it adheres more to Dr. Atkins book and I am ready to quit my impatience and really, really stick to the plan as it was written. The Atkins Website board is almost unrecognizable as far as what I think is written in the 2002 Atkins book. There are rules talked about that I can't find anywhere in the book. I want to go back and do the plan as I did when I was in my 30s and lost so much weight.

Sorry this was so long. I really just meant to introduce myself, but got carried away with blabbing.

I want to start fresh today. Even though I have kept my carbs at induction levels since the beginning, I am thinking it is better to start a new two-week Induction period. And then hopefully I can move on to OWL. When I lost the weight before I never moved out of Induction because I was afraid I would quit losing. I really want to do this right this time.

Thanks for "listening".

Hello everyone!

I am Stephanie, and I am new here as a registered member, although Atkins is something I am familiar with as I did it before several years ago. Of course, if I'd done it CORRECTLY, I wouldn't be here doing it again, right? :duh: This time, I bought the book and actually read it...what a world of difference it makes! I also look forward to sharing in all the knowledge here.

I just moved to OWL rung 1 this week after losing 18 pounds in an extended Induction phase, and I am excited to start adding more vegetable variety to my diet - this week is brussels sprouts!

So far, my only real difficulty has been related to my water consumption - and that seems like a common theme, from the reading I've done so far here on the board. I aim for at least eighty ounces per day, and sometimes get more, but... I'm an air traffic controller, and unfortunately, I can't just get up for a "potty break" whenever I need to during my shift - sometimes I am stuck working on a position for two hours or more. We get a break when it's our turn, and that's about it! My tendency is to load up on the water before and after work, and drink comparatively little during my eight-hour shift at work. My consumption is much more consistent during my days off! I can't see an easy way around this. I DO bring meals and snacks to work and make sure to get my veggies in every day, so I am getting some water during my shift that way...

Also, my schedule is not consistent from day to day (backwards rotating shifts), but I have made a LOT of effort towards meal planning and packing leftovers, so that's not as difficult as it seems...I always bring plenty of legal food with me, and fortunately we have several refrigerators and a cafeteria!

Anyhow, I look forward to participating with all of you on the board! Thanks for reading :NewDay

Stephanie

Hi all. New to forum. Very familiar and have followed Atkins for off and on several years now. Have had great success....untill last 6 months. Just can't seem to get engaged. I thought if I reengaged with some comrades it might help.

So I do need to start induction all over.

I'm short guy at 5'6" and an uncomfortable 175, 3lbs shy from the heaviest I've been...ugh.

I was about 155 2 years ago. We were living in Colorado then, and could Mtn bike every day. Loved it. Since moving here to Illiniois 14 months ago, I've maintained around 162 - 166. But a couple of business trips, and trying to find the right intensity in my workouts ( I follow a very intense bodyweight routine 2 - 3 times a week) as mess me all up. I've at 175, feel bloated and helpless.

I still exercise regularly. at 46, I know there has to be the right balance between Exercise, Rest, and Diet. I seem to always lose 5 - 10 lbs easy, then, lose focus....or something, and can't get below 160.....that is my sticking point.

So..............enough talk. Time for some action, focus, perseverence.

Hello everyone. My name is Gina I am 42 yrs. old and back in school due to being displaced from my home in New Orleans, LA by Hurricane Katrina. I am in my second yr. of nursing (RN) after 2 yrs of prereqs. and it is so stressful.
I am back on Atkins after falling off the wagon about a month and a 1/2 ago :bang:. My starting weight was 196 in June. I lost a 23 lbs. in induction and a total of 33lbs. I gained back 5 of those lbs. since going back to my old eating habits.
I have never purchased an Atkins book, only followed the diet by reading forums so I have questions. For example, I read that you are only allowed 2 cps. of green beans/day. Is this true? When starting I am aware that you are only allowed 20 net carbs, but can I not eat all of 10 of those carbs in green beans? How many carbs are needed to come from vegetables? What about black soy beans. Are they allowed in induction? Are they any good? Is it true that I may not lose as much weight in induction the second time around?
I look forward to talking with any of you and appreciate any advice.

Trying Atkins again. I have tried it in the past and I feel good when I'm on it and I do loose weight. My problem is I may drop 25lbs and feel the need to celebrate. Then I find it hard to get back on board. I have tried Weight Watchers but I am always hungry, same thing with counting calories. I started this at 277 and would love to get to 200. I can never seem to stay the course. Maybe this time I will do it.
